Sharing this with 3 random thoughts:
1) #1 & #2 in the leader quadrant will soon be the same company, which is completely TERRIBLE for the networking industry, because now...
2) Extreme is the only viable alternative left to keep the 2 800-lb gorillas honest, which leads to an interesting take on one of those gorillas...
3) According to Gartner, you're slightly better off using FORTINET for your wired & wireless LAN than Cisco. (Meru > Meraki ? I kid... maybe...) And if you do a historical look at the past several years of the Magic Quadrant, you see Cisco sliding inch by inch closer to being out of the leader quadrant. I've maintained for years that Cisco is no longer a visionary company - you get that way by continually buying other companies and failing to integrate them into a cohesive solution, which leads directly into a declining ability to execute. But if we keep having shrinkage in the networking vendor options (thanks to the HPE-Juniper acquisition), I guess it won't matter, now will it?
