"21 Tools Every Product Designer Needs" Throughout my 25-year design journey, I've continuously acquired a variety of essential tools as they became necessary for different projects. Over time, some tools were lost, likely due to their small size, but after years of use, I've identified 21 essential tools that a product designer simply can't function without. These include "Vernier caliper, screw gauge, steel ruler, folding ruler, rotary measuring ruler, set squares, measuring tapes, thickness gauges for bovine hides and ovine skins, magnifying glass, pic glass, compasses, scissors, staplers, pencil sharpener, eraser, staple pins, a technical levelling tool pen, DST/Scotch tapes, and even an extra pair of reading glasses." In my new Design Studio, I finally found a pegboard that’s the perfect size to give each of these tools a dedicated place. I call them my ‘MINI-ESSENTIALS.' Now, I’ll never have to worry about missing something during a design or development discussion—they’re all right there, ready when I need them!! #StudioSRZ #OneFineLeather #DesignEssentials #CreativeStudio #ProductDesign #ProductDevelopment #DesignJourney #DesignersTools #ToolsOfTheTrade #EssentialTools

Since it's #Friday, here's something I've been working on while trying to find a new role. This is a 3D-printed badge designed for an online contest based around colour. (I think it's obvious as to why that's the theme.) My approach was to create something that people could customise, without having to conform to a rigid design. They don't have to use the same colours (or layouts) that I have, and I would prefer them not to. https://lnkd.in/ebeJkZJs #3dprinting #colours #badge #printables

#rollpassdesign #lifehack As a rule, the rolling sequence is placed on large sheets of A1 or even A0 format. Working with such a scheme is not always convenient. But there is an alternative. A large scheme can be reduced to a small table, where the groove designations will be given. Cells with the same grooves can be colored in the same color. This coloring greatly enhances the visibility of the scheme. You can print it on a color printer or color it by hand. Such a table can be put in your pocket and always have with you. I always use such tables and recommend it to everyone - it is very convenient. Roll Pass Design order - https://lnkd.in/dE8VG-JX

Combining embossing and debossing can truly elevate your business cards. Here’s how to do it step-by-step: 1. Choose Your Design: Start with a clear vision of how you want your card to look. Consider which elements to emboss and which to deboss. 2. Select the Right Paper: Opt for thicker paper to achieve the best results with both techniques. Textured paper works wonders for a tactile feel. 3. Plan Your Layout: Sketch out a layout that allows the embossing to pop while the debossing adds depth. Balance is key. 4. Consult Your Printer: Work closely with your printer to confirm what’s possible. They can guide you on die costs and paper compatibility. 5. Create a Prototype: Before finalizing, get a sample. This will help you see how the textures interact and make adjustments as needed. Combining these techniques not only enhances the visual appeal but also engages the senses. Fun print! A helmet design and head printed together using two different materials. I love multi-color prints, but considering the time they take and the material waste, they often don’t feel worth it:) #additivemanufacturing #3dprinting #yourcadcampartner #orthotics #oandp #design #cadcam #prosthetic

What you see & What I see... All the motifs here are part of a larger print, yet each one is created with as much detail and thought as the main print. Also what you don't see here, are hours spent behind creating the perfect repeat, colour matching, ideations and all the other technical detailing that goes into creating that "perfect" print 💛 https://lnkd.in/dVxxfgXz
