This Friday at Glastonbury Festival’s LeftField, I’m speaking on a panel about Israel Palestine: Hope and Solidarity in Action, with Ahmed Alnaouq, Rachel Shabi and Em Hilton. Our discussion starts at 1.30pm, at the LeftField tent. Please spread the word and if you are at Glastonbury - please join us. It’s so important that Glastonbury and LeftField have made time in their programme to create intentional space for Palestinian and Jewish voices and the voices of solidarity activists to be heard. Since October 7th 2023, more than 47,000 Palestinian men, women, children and babies have been killed in Israel’s military onslaught of the Gaza Strip. More than 60,000 Palestinians have received horrific and in many cases life changing injuries, and thousands more people are buried under the ruble. In May 2024, The International Court of Justice ruled by 13 votes to two that Israel should: “Immediately halt its military offensive, and any other action in the Rafah Governorate, which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.” Israel’s bombardment of Rafah and Gaza are ongoing. Gaza has been destroyed, large parts of Gaza are uninhabitable. Civilian infrastructure including hospitals, ambulances, schools, refugee camps, residential homes and neighbourhoods, shops, parks, media organisations, have been bombed by Israel. International law, international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions have been discarded and trashed over the past devastating 8 months, and more than 75 years of Israel’s military occupation of Palestine, the longest running military occupation in the world. #gaza #palestine #leftfield #glastonuryfestival #ceasefirenow #stopthegenocide

Well done Shaista, it’s important that intelligent, progressive and inclusive voices are heard if we are going to create more respectful, factual and collaborative conversations about the situation.
