Nothing tests a driver’s vision like the sheer speed and precision needed to race in Formula 1, and Shamir® has extended its Optical Performance Partnership with BWT Alpine F1® Team to learn from (and help) three of the best. None of the Alpine’s drivers (and reserve driver Jack Doohan) need corrective lenses yet (we checked), but we will be here if they do. Until then, they help us learn where three of the world’s best drivers look, why, for how long, while we improve the visual performance of the other 1,400 people in the team...And, of course, pass what we’ve learned on to everybody who wears Shamir lenses. #Shamir #Alpine #Alpine #DriverIntelligence

Custom-developed Shamir equipment already protects BWT Alpine F1® Team members from hazards as diverse as loose debris and lasers. Besides corrective lenses for all the Alpine personnel who needed them, Shamir also developed prescription goggles for the pit crew members and safety lenses for aerodynamicists in the wind-tunnel. For Alpine, performance and safety on the track needs performance and safety off the track, too. And Shamir applied the same performance-and-safety philosophy to Drive Intelligence lenses, helping non-F1 drivers get the best out of every drive, while enhancing their safety. That’s just one of the reasons why Shamir will continue as BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Optical Performance Partner in Formula 1. Alpine #Shamir #armthelasers #Alpine #Alpine #DriverIntelligence

Neither of BWT Alpine F1® Team drivers wear corrective lenses, but their performances depend on people who do. That’s just one of the reasons why Alpine was keen to extend the relationship with Shamir as their Optical Performance Partners. Whenever Gasly or Ocon miss a wall by millimeters at 300km/h or hang from their seat belts at 5g under braking, they have to trust that everybody at the factory and in the garage worked with the same precision. That’s where Shamir’s role as BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Performance Partner comes to the fore. Every Alpine team member operates with peak visual performance, on the track and at the factory, thanks to Shamir’s own precision, passion and control. There’s just one week until F1 teams hit the Bahrain International Circuit for preseason testing. It’s an important part of every team’s season, giving them the chance to test different set ups and get as many laps in as possible before qualifying on the 1st of March. Some of the variables teams test over the three days include: ➡ Fuel loads ➡ Car set ups. ➡ Engine Modes ➡ Tyre compounds and life Speed is NOT the main objective in testing. In fact, many teams “sandbag” their cars potential, to keep the competition on their toes. Instead, teams are looking for reliability and performance over an extended race. Not just one lap. Everything on the car must be able to perform at 100% for up to 78 laps. Even when exposed to extreme environments. Our components are used by teams at the pinnacle of the sport to do just that. More uncertainty is clouding the Audi F1 bid as yet another top-level executive leaves the manufacturer. Whether they continue with their F1 plans or not is part of this week’s edition of the Business of Motorsport. I also look at the finances of F1 and the teams that race in it, NASCAR’s new breed of owners, the impact of Saudi Arabia’s investment in electric motorsport as well an astonishing oversight by Las Vegas Grand Prix organizers and much more. #businessofmotorsport https://lnkd.in/eZWaTky6

Shamir will continue as BWT Alpine F1® Team’s Optical Performance Partner to continue to gather useful data, but mostly because we love the challenge! Only Formula 1 demands so much precision from the vision performance of its participants, cramming so much information into their eyes so quickly, forcing their brains to operate at incomprehensible processing speeds. And to us, that sounds like the perfect challenge for an optical performance company. No other sport requires participants to find and focus on a gaze point, then switch to a new gaze point, so quickly, over and over again, while operating at an elevated heart rate and under severe physical effort in all weather and light conditions. Wherever there is a optical challenge like this, Shamir will be there - and we will then develop our solutions that will benefit anybody who needs corrective lenses. #Shamir #Alpine #Alpine #DriverIntelligence

Energy scavengers edit Energy scavengers are devices that search for energy from the environment efficiently. Band pass filters can be implemented to energy scavengers by converting energy generated from vibration into electric energy. The band pass filter designed by Shahruz (2005), is an ensemble of cantilever beams,[6] which is called the beam-mass system. Ensemble of beam-mass systems can be transformed into a band pass filter when appropriate dimensions of beams and masses are chosen. Although the process of designing a mechanical band pass filter is advanced, further study and work are still required to design more flexible band pass filters to suit large frequency intervals. This mechanical band pass filter could be used on vibration sources with distinct peak-power frequencies.
