We’re thrilled to co-lead Power's $12M Series A, alongside our friends Nikhil Basu Trivedi at Footwork and Kin Ventures. Patient recruitment is a massive bottleneck in clinical trials. 86% of U.S. trials are delayed due to lack of enrollment. Yet <5% of American patients participate in potentially life-changing trials. Many must advocate for themselves, wrestling with dense jargon, unclear tradeoffs, and an opaque enrollment process. Power is reimagining trial recruitment starting with a patient-led marketplace. Therapeutic options should be easily accessible for everyone — regardless of geographical location, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background. Unlocking access for patients is only act one. We believe Power has the potential to redefine how patients, researchers, and life science partners interact in the clinical trial system.

Restraint and other unlicensed crisis management strategies I was talking to my colleague Andy Prisco who works in the US. I described restraint and seclusion as effectively unlicensed interventions. Goverment bodies like the FDA and its equivelant around the world would not license training and use of such methods based on evidence. It is true that It is custom and practice that people accept these and other crisis management practices as a part of supporting people who challenge. The reality is that these are in effect unlicensed interventions with little evidence base. Each year huge numbers of staff and other supporters are trained in physical interventions with little evidence for the effectiveness of such training. The over use of these methods and the emphasis on training staff in ,'socially acceptable pseudo martial arts' needs to stop. #mentalhealth #restraint #seclusion #physicalinterventions #lowarousal #training
