𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗡𝗦𝗦   Inspired by the way the human retina works, NILEQ neuromorphic cameras don’t capture a series of images, but instead track changes in brightness across the sensor’s individual pixels. This generates far less data and operates at much higher speeds than a conventional camera. These cameras are ideal for environments without reliable Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and where processing power is limited.   𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗠𝗨𝘀   Combining Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) with Neuromorphic camera data using sensor fusion, creates a robust navigation system capable of operating in environments where GNSS is unavailable. The technology tracks precise "terrain fingerprints" by analyzing brightness changes, comparing them against pre-loaded satellite imagery databases to correct IMU accuracy drift. The approach offers significant benefits: minimal computational overhead, low power consumption, and the ability to navigate in challenging environments.   𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘀   Currently developed for drone navigation, this technology shows immense promise for space exploration. Potential applications include aerial navigation on the Moon and Mars where GNSS is not reliably available. Radio connections for uncrewed systems are going through significant changes. ➡️Cognitive radio is increasingly being adopted, using software-defined radio to analyse the local spectrum and find areas that are clear, reducing the power required and extending battery life. ➡️Mobile ad-hoc networks are being used with swarms of UAVs to enhance radio connectivity, sharing data about the spectrum across a wide area. ➡️New, lightweight antenna designs with multiple feeds and beamforming are also improving the performance of radio links in the air, allowing for longer range connections beyond the visual line-of-sight or reducing the power needed for close work. ➡️Meanwhile, machine learning and artificial intelligence are being adopted in radio systems to boost cognitive architectures and the efficiency of connections, especially for high-bandwidth video. ➡️At the same time, millimetre-wave radio technology (mmWave) is maturing to provide higher-bandwidth video links that are less susceptible to interference. 𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗬𝗘 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟮𝟱 𝗰𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The industry’s highest fidelity 25 cm product will allow ICEYE’s customers to identify objects and features on the earth’s surface with far greater clarity than before ICEYE, the global provider of SAR satellite operations for Earth Observation and persistent monitoring, introduced Dwell Precise, a new imaging mode that adds advanced capability to ICEYE’s line of Dwell products and builds on the release of Dwell Fine in March 2024. Dwell Precise provides a 25-centimeter resolution and is based on the 1200 MHz radar bandwidth announced earlier this year. 1200 MHz is currently the maximum that commercial satellites are allowed to use. ICEYE’s Dwell Precise uniqueness comes from the combination of high-quality data with high resolution, and it will make a difference when the identification of smaller objects or targets is required, e.g. types of vehicles and types of military equipment, without the need for additional intelligence sources. As a SAR satellite orbits the Earth its radar signals focus on a specific area of the planet’s surface to create an image based on return data. Like other modes in the Dwell product line, Dwell Precise data are taken from a much more comprehensive range of angles, allowing it to spot objects through tree cover and foliage. ICEYE owns and operates the world’s largest constellation of SAR satellites. It first introduced Dwell mode in May 2023, and with the introduction of Dwell Fine in March 2024 and today’s launch of Dwell Precise, ICEYE further underlines its commitment to constant innovation in serving private and public sector organizations globally with the most advanced commercial Earth Observation capabilities and SAR satellite data.
