I just opened my Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) e-blast to see that Joel Pettigrew's fellowship report is public! Congratulations, Joel! Joel explored the challenge of supporting student development in open yet secure urban campuses. He examined campus edge dynamics and student security across several urban institutions, bridging operational campus life insights with design perspectives. The analysis reveals how these "two languages" shape student security and well-being while highlighting opportunities for further research in this complex area. I know how much time and effort goes into researching and writing one of these reports, so let's support Joel by giving it a read, sharing, and utilizing this work:

📚 Haven't heard of #EducationOutsideTheClassroom before? Don't worry, you are not alone, as this concept and methodology has only been gaining ground in recent years, with more and more #teachers in #STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) looking for innovative ways to foster their students' interest in the topic. After all, #math and #science in general have an undeserved reputation for being difficult subjects, and students are often not aware of how they impact our day-to-day lives. So what is #EducationOutsideTheClassroom all about? What does it bring new to the table? And why is it worth it to work on its popularisation, in Europe and not only? 🌍 We've listed the main benefits of this methodology in our blog post below - but keep in mind that this list is non-exhaustive! If our experience in #OTTER has taught us anything, it's that #EducationOutsideTheClassroom is truly revolutionary in bringing children closer to science, and to understanding the world they live in. 🥰 📷 (c) Allan Mas https://lnkd.in/dDdp2Arm ________________ Geonardo Environmental Technologies Lucy Avraamidou European Science Foundation UL - School of Education (SoE) University of Limerick Learning Scoop Big Van Ciencia CARDET European Research Executive Agency (REA) Surrounded by Science
