Because understanding the financial elements of your business is critical. When you’re able to learn the mechanics of your business better, it helps you do 2 things: 1. You begin to evaluate opportunities and resources differently – you better understand the tradeoff and how it will impact the business. This means more meaningful conversations with management teams when evaluating resources, programs and projects. As someone who struggles with true prioritization, this is so helpful. 2. You are able to better position your programs to leadership – every company takes bets on key programs to drive revenue, growth, retention, and profitability. By better understanding finance, I know I have a way to position these programs to our leadership team. Especially in customer marketing, a field that's not always understood or valued, this is key.
