Are you the kind of person who does a ton of recon before you jump into anything? Just like you watch a boxer's shoulders, neck, and feet in the ring to help you predict where they will go next, in real estate, you watch - among other things - home building.
I traveled recently and found it interesting that on a Central American island with a growing community of expat residents, new housing includes live-in space for home/child/elder care, professionals. It's not something we see here, but apparently, those who move to warmer climes are planning for that need, and are willing to spend to have that dedicated space.
In Chicago, new residential is showing signs of acknowledging one of the key points in this blog - housing is out of reach for many young people who, in different times, might have purchased an entry level home or condo. We're seeing finished basements with second kitchens, full baths, and comfortable bedrooms. We're seeing multiple locations for laundry, accommodating for multi-generational living.
The more we learn, the more we find solutions to the challenges that make headlines. I encourage you to find your way to the information that helps you reach your real estate purchase, sale, and investment goals.
