People often ask me, "Which do you prefer, ghostwriting or editing?" It's hard to answer. They both ignite my passion for giving voice to stories that matter. So I won't compare them. Editing tip: Edit in layers. Depending on what you're writing, editing doesn't happen in one go. Especially if you're writing SFD style (surrendered first draft). Here's a simplified version of the whole process for writing something like a blog post. 1) Set intentions — what's the goal of the piece? What's your main point? 2) SFD — write fast AF (no editing while you write!) It might feel like you're writing morning pages. This is good. 3) Put it away. Write other things. 4) Read your writing. Only edit if you feel called. 5) Editing layer 1: Do a light edit fixing the obvious typos, incomplete sentences, punctuation. 6) Editing layer 2: Add emotion, visuals, or simplify. What you do here depends on your natural writing style. Editing can be intuitive too.
