I think I’m going to do a series of outrageous job postings on here. I found it entertaining, maybe you will too! Here’s one I came across today. This company is looking to hire a social media and marketing associate who is expected to do the role of a content specialist, video and photographer, editor, graphic designer, social media manager, community manager, digital marketing specialist, SEO specialist, while also supporting other marketing activations. I understand the role of a social media marketer can be difficult to understand and hugely varies from one organization to the other but I am confident this here is the ideal definition of unrealistic expectations. Also note, the salary is not mentioned. If this company does however, finds someone who claims they can manage all of this, the output is sure to be mediocre at best. Companies, please invest in good talent. This will give you the ROI you so earnestly desire. And job seekers, please do not sell yourself short. Companies get away with this because there’s always someone desperate enough to cave and go for soul sucking jobs like this. Know your worth and stick to it. 🙏🏾 #joblisting #socialmedia #jobposting

I help small businesses grow online with bespoke digital marketing strategies and personality-driven brand visuals ✨
A quick reminder that hiring a social media manager doesn't mean they will also be your: ✍️ Blog Writer 🖊 Copywriter 📧 Email Marketer 🤳 Content Creator 🧑 Admin Assistant 🎨 Graphic Designer 💻 Website Designer 💰 Paid Ads Specialist 📱 Community Manager 📸 Photographer/Videographer I've seen far too many roles advertised recently that expect a job candidate to do all of the above within a 40 hour week. Each of these is a full-time job in its own right. By expecting someone to do all of this within normal working hours, you're setting them up to fail. (And don't get me started on the salary expectations that come with these job adverts). If you're someone advertising similar, you need to do better.

Your job search could be ⏭ or ⏮. Want it to go fast? Think outside your job title. There are hundreds of gigs that need your skills. Search for related jobs on LinkedIn and other job boards and you’ll discover new opportunities. Example: 🔍 "Copywriting" → "Content strategist" 🔍 "HR" → "Talent acquisition coordinator/Talent acquisition specialist" 🔍 "Graphic designer" → "Brand specialist" Searching like this gives you jobs that are more relevant and closely alligned to the exact skillset you have. Don't forget to highlight what you're most proud of in each role. Happy job searching!

I was matching colors with this plant, and at first glance from across the hall, I thought I had discovered a unique plant with pale pink leaves or petals. But upon closer inspection, I realized it was a fake plant. Clearly, I'm not a match with artificial greens because I prefer real ones. When it comes to filtering remote social media jobs on LinkedIn to find the perfect match for me, here's my approach: → I start by selecting the 'Jobs' tab on LinkedIn. → I use relevant keywords in the search bar, such as 'remote social media,' 'digital marketing,' or specific job titles. → I apply filters based on post date, location, industry, and job function to narrow down the results. → I pay extra attention to the job description (If it requires me to be a social media manager + marketing manager + copywriter + content creator + email marketer + web designer + superwoman - I run away even if I can do all those things because red flag!). → If all four steps above are positive, I quickly review the company's profile to gauge if it aligns with my values and interests. → Then I proceed to send my application. Finding the right job/client is like discovering a vibrant, living plant that complements your skills and interests. So, keep searching for your perfect match, and don't give up! Someone out there is waiting patiently for the services you offer. #remotesocialmediamanager #creativejobs #socialmedia #jobvacancy #VirtualUddy #Smallbusiness #socialmediaforbusiness #socialmediamanager #socialmediatips #SocialMediaStrategy #socialmedia101 #socialmediacoach #remotework

Social Media Manager | Community Manager | Content Creator | Copywriter | Founder of GymHub Sportswear | A huge fan of Gym and hiking
So, yesterday I came across this JD (screenshot attached) for a Social Media Manager job post from a brand which I won't mention. 🤡 My first thought after reading this JD was, are they looking for a Digital Marketing Manager, Community Manager, Graphic Designer and Social Media manager all in one? 🤔 Honestly speaking, these requirements for Social Media Manager are ridiculous. This company is literally using that saying of "kill 2 birds with one stone" which is impossible. 😱 What are your thoughts about this JD? #hiring #jobdescription #socialmediamarketing #digitalamarketing #communitymanager

Anyone else get absolutely fed up of seeing job postings that look like... "We are hiring a Media Manager, must be skilled at.... - Web design - Social media - Meta Ads - Photography - Videography - Video Editing - Graphic Design - Podcasting - Google Ads - SEO 🤯 9/10 times what these companies usually need is a marketing agency. You MIGHT get extremely lucky and find someone who can do a little bit of all of the above tasks, but when it boils down to it you'll most likely end up with a jack of all trades but a master of none. (No shame in this either, I've had to do this in the past) Moral of the story is a 'Media Manager' isn't a coverall for all your marketing requirements, especially if you aren't willing to have a salary that matches your massive list of responsibilities. This isn't saying don't hire someone at all either! The companies that have the best results working with agencies typically have someone working internally as a point of contact to help oversee and coordinate marketing goals with upper management. But if you're finding your job posts look similar to this, you more than likely need a marketing agency 🤷 Surge could be a good one 👀? (P.s... I'm not looking for work of course but I get Linkedin ads like this constantly 😂🙄)

🎯 Are you hiring a social media manager or a one-person marketing department? When you expect one hire to handle social media, photography, videography, graphic design, ad buying, web design, and customer support, you’re not looking for a social media manager. You’re looking for a “Senior Director of Other Duties as Assigned.” 🙄 📌 Here’s the reality: Each of these tasks requires a distinct skill set and focus. Expecting one person to excel at all is not only unrealistic but also unfair. 💡 Quality over quantity: The best results come from specialised roles where professionals can focus on their strengths. What's more impactful—a jack-of-all-trades or a master of one? 🔄 Let’s change the narrative: Value specialised talent. It’s time to recognise the depth of expertise needed for each role. 👉 How are you ensuring your team members are set up for success? #SocialMediaManager #Marketing #DigitalMarketing #VideoMarketing #ContentCreation #SpecialisedTalent #TeamSuccess #MarketingStrategy #videography #animation

Is it just me, or do job descriptions for Social Media Managers in our country come with some pretty wild expectations? 🤔 Here are some of these common misconceptions: - Expected to manage every social media platform (a one-person army, really?). - Run ad campaigns (fair enough). - Handle PPC campaigns too (because why not?). - Be a top-notch Graphic Designer 🎨. - Master Video Editing (with zero prior experience, of course) 🎥. - Create animations (because who doesn’t know animation?). - Act or direct videos to make content engaging (or maybe teach others how to act?). - Exhibit outstanding sales pitch communication skills (add "salesperson" to the resume!). - Be an SEO expert (as if social media isn't demanding enough) 🔍. - Write technical content (with a creative twist, naturally). - Be available 24/7, 365 days a year (no weekends or holidays, because who needs those?). - Oh, and be a Web Developer too (because clearly, that's not a separate role at all). **And all of this for a salary of just 35K? Incredible! 😅 Have I missed anything? Let me know your thoughts! #tehreemmehar #socialmedia #hiring #socialmediamanagers #digitalmarketing

As someone who does content creation as a Full time gig job descriptions like the one below are appalling. The title of this Job is “Content Creator”. But if you read the description you’ll find that not only are you asking someone to drive your entire social media content creation in the confined space of your retail store you’re ALSO asking them to be a retail store manager, social media manager, videographer, and editor??? At this point those roles are expected on SMM job descriptions. But to then tell this person they’re also a floor retail sales manager from 9-5 M-S is outrageous. And the best part? 45-50k a year based on experience…. Essentially a Content Creator, a Multi Platform Social media manager and a retail store manager/sales associate for the same average salary of a entry level graphic design position. Companies have to stop thinking social media managers and content creators are easy jobs that you can do In your spare time and breaks. We gotta do better.

A few months back, I was on a spree of interviews for a Social Media Manager position. Everything goes smooth-talking social strategy, engagement hacks, all that jazz… until the real job description drops. 👀 They don't just want a social media manager; they want a content writer, Google Ads expert, SEO whiz, graphic designer, reel producer, video editor, AND an automation guru. Basically, a one-person army. 🤯 I get it—brands are hunting for multi-talented pros these days. But let’s be real, overloading the role is a recipe for burnout. We’re here to build killer strategies, not juggle every role under the sun! Clear roles = better results. And let’s not forget, that thriving creativity needs balance. ✌️ Here’s to roles that let us shine without draining our creative fuel. 💡 #SocialMediaLife #BurnoutIsReal #MarketingRealTalk #DigitalStrategy #CreativeFlow #WorkBoundaries #SocialMediaPro
