🚀 Great debut for our first Supplier Day 🚀 After intensive planning, we successfully held our first Supplier Day yesterday. A new platform where we brought together strategic suppliers from various categories in one day to finalize ongoing tenders – supported by our top management and Member of the Board, Vinzenz Pflanz . It was also a new and great experience for the procurement team, as we’ve mostly seen such large-scale events in B2B sales (my sales soul of course likes this a lot 😃). It was a good opportunity to introduce this format in procurement and further strengthen the collaboration with our suppliers. 🤩For me personally, the day was double exciting: on the one hand, because I designed and facilitated the event, and on the other hand, because I led the final negotiation for one category and successfully brought it to a close. What made this day special for us: transparency and partnership on equal footing with our suppliers and close collaboration with our colleagues from the technical departments. Even for suppliers who didn’t win the tender, we want to ensure that the dialogue remains open and respectful. The consistently positive feedback from all suppliers who participated confirmed this. Before entering a negotiation, you should also understand your BATNA (Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement) if the deal doesn’t go through. Your BATNA might involve walking away entirely, but it could also mean pursuing a different partnership, seeking another vendor, or revising internal strategies (e.g., reallocate resources, revise timelines). When you know your BATNA, you don’t feel pressured into accepting unfavorable terms. The stronger your BATNA, the more power you have in the negotiation.
