When did you connect with your passion? I discovered my passion for leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion through my experience leading teams and driving cultural transformation at organizations such as Sam's Club, Bank of America, Capital One, and DoorDash. Early in my career, I recognized the critical importance of building inclusive environments and amplifying underrepresented voices. This commitment has become a central part of my purpose and has driven my professional journey and leadership style. What was your key reason for joining the Atlanta Black Chambers? I joined the Atlanta Black Chambers because I am deeply committed to supporting Black-owned businesses and advancing economic empowerment. The organization aligns with my core belief in the power of community, impact, and collaboration. Through my involvement with the Atlanta Black Chambers, I aim to build meaningful connections that uplift and strengthen our community. As a business owner, a man should have these two things: 1. A man should have a clear vision that aligns with both his life and business. A clear vision provides direction and purpose, ensuring that a man’s personal and professional endeavors are in harmony. It guides his decisions, inspires others, and keeps him focused on achieving his long-term goals. 2. A man should possess unwavering faith, demonstrated consistently in how he leads his life. Unwavering faith offers strength and resilience, especially in times of challenge. It shapes his actions and decisions, reflecting a deep commitment to his beliefs. Through this faith, he leads with integrity, inspires trust, and upholds his values in all aspects of life. What does ambition mean to you? For me, ambition means: - Continually seeking God’s plan for my life. - Living a life that reflects my core values. - Making a positive impact in the lives of others. I did my second Toastmasters speech yesterday, "Give a Speech with Impact." My subject, once more was DE&I: "Why DEI Matters to Business". I won't post the whole thing here, but I focused on three areas that benefit from DEI initiatives: 💡 Employee well-being: True diversity and inclusion lead to less stress, less burnout, and less turnover -- which results in more productive teams. A 2020 survey of millennials reveals not only will they stay longer with an employer who values diversity, but will change jobs for a chance to be part of a more inclusive team. 🌟 Marketplace advantage: Being an organization that transparently values DE&I gives a business a competitive advantage. Seventy percent of job seekers consider diversity when they are looking at employers, so embracing DEI means businesses have access to a vast pool of talent. When an organization reflects the larger world, it can better provide its customers with the products and services they need. 💵 The bottom line: Companies that practice diversity, inclusion, and equity enjoy greater financial success. Research shows that organizations with diverse teams are 33 percent more likely to outperform their competition in profitability. 🎉 When people feel included and are treated equitably, their workplaces are more stable and have less turnover. Teams are more innovative and creative, which leads to higher financial returns and security. Diverse spaces are good for people and good for businesses -- they lead to strong connections in places where people of all walks of life can succeed and thrive.
