ISPE Facilities of the Future Conference 2024 Another great Conference put on by ISPE President #TomHartman and his team! Many topics on point, addressing the challenges our industry is experiencing today and will have to improve on for the future. The ASTM Clean by Design initiative presented by #DawnMarshall (Sanofi) and #KennethPiercePhD (Hyde consulting) was well attended. Based on the many questions that #WalterRatti (Rattiinox Srl) and I fielded during the two days, advanced systems design and cleaning are priority topics. It is also confirmation that the change agents in the industry understand the decades old “tried and true” systems and “copy-paste” process design will be difficult to defend and implement going forward. Especially if the industry’s stated sustainability goals have any chance of being reached. Internally we talk about this weekly. However it is especially gratifying when industry influencers begin to recite our ideas back to us! For sure the ancient cable cars San Francisco is known for can get you around the city. But they cannot expand outside their tracks. So too with bio process systems limited by technology and designs that are decades old! I’d like to hear your thoughts!
