I am weighing in, again... I'd rather see a sermon, than hear one, any day! Our actions (or inaction) can reveal more about our true nature and beliefs than our words. The government can harness the potential of sport to drive sustainable development, create economic opportunities and foster a sense of community and identity, by adopting a more serious and strategic approach to sport. This commitment is essential for transforming our country into a sustainable, thriving community where sport plays a central role in shaping a better future. Actions! Below is an excerpt from the St. Kitts and Nevis National Sport Policy.

Election Day is coming in BC on October 19th and we need your vote! Over 815,000 British Columbians participate in amateur sport, but we haven’t seen an increase to core funding sport since 2010. Add your voice @SportBC’s campaign for health, connection and community and let’s work together to close the funding gap for sport. In addition to physical and other health and wellness benefits, participation in support also supports our province’s economic growth. In fact, some of these benefits include: ● Contributions to domestic and international #tourism (sport activirty drives $1.2B in GDP!) ● Creates job opportunities (there will be >9,200 job openings in sport by 2032) ● Improves employee productivity and reduces absenteeism Share Sport BC’s campaign and add your voice today: https://lnkd.in/g9GRcYkj #SportBC #PoweringSport

Interesting opinion piece and good to have this discussion while we are in an emotive mood delivered by Aussies who have sacrificed for years for their possible brief moment in the spotlight. My thoughts ➡️ The guy that cancelled the Comm Games will be honoured with a bronze statue for his 3000+ days as Premier. Looks more and more like the Comm Games pitch was a political tactic as part of the election campaign. In an era where statues are being torn down this one will stand tall. Terrible through Covid, blowing our grandkids money on massively over budget construction projects, and the Comm Games bait and switch should all see this crew rejected emphatically but Victorians appear to have been Stockholmed? Or maybe the CFMEU fixers were out and about around election time? It should be a lay down misère for the Opposition but they can’t cut through. Are good people that hard to find or is it that conservative politics has chased the opinion polls so far to the left as well? A new breed are needed that champion smaller government, protect individual freedoms, and support innovators in the quest for a better tomorrow for all. For me Victoria is a sell order. What are your thoughts? Pitchforks in the street, or back to BAU in the coming week?

Sharing cuz my thoughts are very much aligned to this and couldn’t have said it better. A few extracts from the article I connected with very much: - We in Sri Lanka have for far too long lived in the false notion that all the amazing natural gifts that Sri Lanka is blessed with can alone take us on a journey that will make us the envy of the world…. - ……..Whilst we have been unfortunate to have had leaders who were unashamedly corrupt, we have lived in the false notion that all ills of our nation are the result of corruption of officials, forgetting the fact that we have for years been content with allowing our politicians to spend more than the Treasury collects and import beyond the country’s capacity. We as a nation have for far too long expected the government to be the driver of investment, employment and growth rather than demanding for policies that create an effective environment for private entrepreneurship to thrive and contribute towards national success - It is my belief that this election is an opportunity to build on the successful post crisis stabilization of the economy. To build on the success of a process and journey that has been validated and applauded globally - Most importantly it is an opportunity to ensure that corrections made to Sri Lanka’s decade long policy errors are strengthened and not reversed. - This is an election that will either enable us to stay the course of economic revival or deviate once again in the belief that a messiah or fringe theories can deliver success

Questions to think about when observing the Olympic games 2024 in Paris: Can we talk about sport when politics interferes in sports matters? Can we deal with fairness and justice when there is segregation in sport?

Our latest research: The changing nature of how and where Australians play sport. When we think of playing sport many of us think of our local community clubs. Participation within sports clubs for children increased for some sports. However, adults are less likely then previous years to play sport within clubs. 63% of children's participation in sport was within a club setting, whereas the majority of adult participation in sport (64%) is played outside of community sports clubs. We need to continue to have a range of sport opportunities, programs and settings so Australians can play the sport of their choice, their way. Full paper available at: https://lnkd.in/gA-ntV9b
