Meet Sonia Andalon, our newest employee from Mid-America! Sonia is currently a CNA and is preparing to take her NCLEX-PN to become a nurse. Sonia is the first student to take advantage of our tuition assistance agreement with Mid-America College of Health Sciences. Because students attending Mid-America are required to have their tuition paid in full before sitting for their tests, Shawnee Gardens/Recover-Care has agreed to pay the last $5,000.00 of tuition owed if the student agrees to work at our facility for a year. “I plan on beginning my practical nursing career here at Shawnee Gardens. I enjoy it here because of the wonderful residents and the community. I have gotten to know many of the residents, and they brighten my day so much! We are very excited to have Sonia here with us as she continues to thrive, bringing joy and energy to the building when she is here. We are hopeful that this mutually beneficial symbiosis between Shawnee Gardens Healthcare & Rehab Center and MidAmerica Nazarene University . If you would like to receive more information about the program, we encourage you to reach out to our HR Director, Roger Berg, for more information.

MIT MBA l Harvard MPH l CNO at NPHub, I help NP programs optimize student clinical placements I 40 under 40 Honoree-Seattle
Absolutely thrilled to share how the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health MPH Program in Epidemiology was a game-changer for me. As the CNO of NPHub, the skills I honed in data analysis and public health strategies are instrumental in addressing the national provider shortage. Leveraging epidemiological insights allows us to streamline NP placements, optimize healthcare delivery, and make impactful decisions daily. Are you an NP program director/university dean or hospital exec interested in the MPH in Epidemiology, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health program or an MPH in general? I’d love to connect and offer tips on the application process. Let’s transform healthcare together! #HarvardMPH #Epidemiology #HealthcareLeadership #NPHub #PublicHealth #HealthcareTransformation #ConnectAndCollaborate

It's nice when colleges make it easier for students to get licensed for their dream careers. Licensing requirements vary by state, whether for nursing, teaching, or social work. This can be challenging for those who attended college in one state and decide to work in another. It's up to the individual to do their homework, but it's unfortunate when some college credits aren't transferable or when different practice hours are required. Joyce University is working to change that. Nursing is a high-demand field, and more colleges should follow suit for future healthcare workers, as well as other professions that are in high demand. #EducationReform #CareerPathways https://lnkd.in/gxG-3Gn2

Thanks for sharing your expertise Janelle S. How can we apply these learnings to other areas? In broader areas, such as general education, how do we uncover bias and increase equity? Very applicable learnings for many areas here. #highereducation

Two U.S. lawmakers on May 9 reintroduced a bill that would create a federal grant program for nursing schools to stand up or expand accelerated degree programs geared toward individuals with an undergraduate degree in another field. The legislation would authorize $10 million per year in grants for nursing schools to create, expand or support accelerated nursing degree programs. The bill would allow schools to use the funding to hire and retain nurse faculty, expand the number of clinical training sites and offer financial support to students. It was introduced by Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens and Ohio Rep. Dave Joyce.

One of the recommendations from the Final Report of the Australian Universities Accord is an increase in quality preparatory courses that are delivered fee-free and funded at a level that reflects the full cost of delivery. These enabling courses prepare students with interrupted educational journeys to qualify for higher degree entry. The short article below outlines the life-changing impact of CQUniversity's STEPS program. As a University, we have seen the transformative power of enabling courses for 38 years - in particular, providing opportunity to students in traditionally under-represented cohorts. Operating since 1986, STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) is designed to introduce students to the University environment and provide them with the tools for success - importantly, teaching them to be self-directed learners. It's wonderful to see a mum and her son, despite having initial doubts that higher education was for them, giving it a go by enrolling in STEPS and gaining entry to their chosen degree. Sue and Alvin are now both nurses, making a valued contribution to both the public and private health services in Bundaberg - such a great outcome for the community and their family. 'Until you try, you don't know what you can do'.
Bundaberg Mother and son Susan and Alvin White have become a dynamic duo in nursing thanks to CQUniversity’s Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) program. https://ow.ly/cErN50R787j

Endorse this statement 110%! Nurse-driven policy solutions and leadership equate to clinical professionals operating at the full scope of practice and span of control and achieving the highest patient-and family-centered outcomes. Nurse, Policymaker, and Executive Director of The Institute for Policy Solutions at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
It's my fourth month as executive director at the Institute for Policy Solutions at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Every day, I am reminded of the pivotal role that nurses play in redesigning health care and encouraging collaboration among interprofessional members of our nation's health workforce, communities, and policymakers to collectively solve one of the country’s most alarming and unsustainable problems: persistent health inequities. Our expertise and insight into the systems that deliver care and impact health, as well as what matters to patients, families, and communities, uniquely position the nursing profession to transform health care delivery from care that is primarily focused on treating illness to care that prioritizes health and well-being.
