It is deeply concerning that suicide is the second leading cause of death among individuals aged 10-14. This highlights the critical need for increased mental health support, early intervention, and preventive measures in schools and communities. Efforts to reduce stigma, provide access to counseling, and create supportive environments for young people are essential in addressing this tragic issue. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health condition, help is available and accessible. You can call or text ‘988’ (or chat online on 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s website) for free, confidential, and immediate help. You can also call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) to access the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration 24/7 helpline. You can also contact me! I’m here to serve! We’re facing a mental health crisis here in the United States. Over one-third of adults say they’re struggling with mental illness or a substance use disorder, but less than half are able to access the care they need. Often, high out-of-pocket costs are what’s keeping people from the mental health services they’re interested in. For people of color, the trend is especially prevalent. This BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s examine the numbers on members of different American populations who have experienced a cost-related issue when trying to get mental health care. To learn about what some are doing to help increase access to equitable mental health support, visit The Commonwealth Fund online today: https://lnkd.in/gDsyi2qA #BIPOCMentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BIPOCMentalHealthAwarenessMonth2024

During Collaborative Therapy Month for Mental Health Awareness, let's shed light on depression by the numbers: 🔹 Depression is the No.1 leading cause of disability in the U.S. 🔹 It's estimated to cost $180 Billion in the U.S. 🔹 In 2022, there were between 45,000 to 50,000 deaths by suicide in the U.S., averaging to 1 suicide every 11 minutes. 🔹 Shockingly, 50% of adults struggling with depression do not receive treatment. Let's use these statistics to spark conversations, increase understanding, and advocate for accessible mental health support for all. Together, we can make a difference. 💙 #CollaborativeTherapyMonth #MentalHealthAwareness #BreakTheStigma"

This year’s theme is #StartTheConversation, because a simple chat could make all the difference. At the Amore Group, Amore Complex Care and Amore Social Care we understand that sometimes the most important thing we can do for our clients, colleagues and loved ones is to talk and listen. Whether it’s asking someone how they’re feeling or opening up about your own struggles, every conversation can help. We are proud to have Jo Watson and Sarah Bullock, our Mental Health First Aiders, available for any of our team needing support. 😊 During and after #WSPD, you should: 💬 Watch out for changes in behaviour that could mean someone's struggling to cope 💬 Speak up to let someone know there is support available. Organisations such as Samaritans, Mind, #ANDYSMANCLUB and PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide offer a mix of resources, 1-1 support and group sessions to help with #mentalhealth struggles. The 'Hub of Hope' app by Chasing the Stigma can help find the most relevant and readily available support near you. 💬 Play your part by reaching out to anyone you're concerned about. Ask how they're doing, using open questions that need more than a yes or no answer, such as "How do you feel?" or "What's that like for you?" 💬 Ditch the stigma. Listen without judgement and try not to jump straight in with your advice or opinions. Don't be afraid to ask someone if they're having suicidal thoughts - they are far more common than most people know. It gives them permission to tell you how they feel. Let’s break the silence, #ChangeTheNarrative and support each other. Talking saves lives. 💚 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #YouAreNotAlone #MentalHealthFirstAider #MHFA #ItsOkToTalk

It is essential to make mental health resources easily accessible to all, regardless of background, circumstances, or identity. Ensuring mental health support means providing fair access to resources and support for individuals going through a tough time or simply wanting to learn more. Watch the latest video from Psych Hub and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, "Ensuring Mental Health Support for Everyone". May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it's important to acknowledge that 1 in 5 U.S. adults live with a mental illness each year, and only half of them receive treatment. Let's #TakeTheMoment to prioritize our well-being and ensure everyone who needs support and care receives it. To help spread awareness, here are some vital resources: NAMI.org provides resources, support, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by mental illness. The SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-622-HELP) is available 24/7 for mental health support. Psychology Today can help you find licensed mental health professionals. #mentalhealthishealth
