Oxford defines transition as: Noun – The process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. Verb – Undergo or cause to undergo a process or period of transition. The military to civilian transition can be an extremely stressful and difficult transition for many people. Service members go through a transition when they get out of the military. Our spouses go through a similar transition when we get out of the service. Many veterans go through additional life transitions after they are out of the military. It is a part of the military/veteran life. The good news is you don’t have to do it alone. There are tons of resources available to assist you with these various transitions. Reach out and let’s find the right organizations to help you. #veteran #veterans #veteranshelpingveterans #veterantransition #military #militarytransition #militaryspouse #militaryspouses #transitioningmilitary #transitioningveterans #transitioningservicemembers
We are all a work in progress, Shawn Welsh, RBLP-T, ABCP, that said, I agree the transition process - for US military members and their families - is challenging and stressful.
This is wonderful Shawn. I can only try to imagine the difficulties that transition engenders.
Great post Shawn! If we look at the change from leaving the military or one career to another (including being a stay at home parent), we are simply expanding. Transitioning can feel negative like you have to leave something behind. But when it comes to careers, you take your skills forward and expand on them into something new. And you are right Shawn, so many resources out there. Don't think you have to expand your career or your journey alone.
Great post, Shawn Welsh, RBLP-T, ABCP - Thank you!
Shawn, we all go through many transitions in our lifetimes. But as you said, we do not have to go through these transitions alone. I had a rough time with my military transition because I was too stubborn to ask for assistance. The hope is others learn from mine and others mistakes of not asking for assistance.
