This Sunday, 23 June, is International Women in Engineering Day. It's a significant occasion to reflect on the contributions of women in engineering and to inspire future generations of female engineers. A 2022 report by Engineers Australia found that women make up 48 per cent of Australia’s workforce, yet account for just 13 per cent of the nation’s working engineers. This disparity highlights the importance of encouraging more women to pursue and thrive in engineering careers. To mark this day, we asked Director Nicole Armit, BEnvEng and Associate Katie Teyhan, BEng (Mech) to share their perspectives as women in engineering. Check out the video below to hear their responses and join us in celebrating the achievements and potential of women in engineering. #INWED24 #EnhancedByEngineering #CreatingOpportunities

Today, on International Women in Engineering Day, we recognize the incredible achievements of women engineers globally and the strides we continue to make in this traditionally male-dominated field. Engineering is not just about designing structures; it’s about creating solutions that improve our world. Each day, I am inspired by the innovative spirit, resilience, and determination of my fellow female engineers. We are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and proving that gender is no limit to greatness. At Stantec I am fortunate to work in an environment that values inclusivity, supports professional growth, and encourages us to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Our collective efforts drive the industry forward and inspire the next generation of women engineers. To all the women in engineering: Your contributions are invaluable. Keep dreaming big, pushing limits, and shaping the future. Together, we are engineering a better world. #EnhancedByEngineering #WomenAtStantec #INWED2024 #WomenInEngineering #StructuralEngineering #DiversityInTech

Happy International Women in Engineering Day! June 23rd marked the 11th anniversary of International Women in Engineering Day. Did you know women constitute just 16% of Australian engineering graduates – and only 13% of the engineering workforce? — According to the Women in Engineering June 2022 report by Engineers Australia. Diversity of thought and skillset is crucial to high-performing, innovative teams and increasing women engineers is just one way to address this. Let's celebrate the remarkable contributions of women engineers worldwide and inspire more young girls to pursue careers in engineering. #INWED2024 #ShapeTheWorld #WomenInEngineering #EngineeringHeroes

It feels great being recognized for my work in the engineering field.
As we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, we are reminded of the outstanding achievements of women engineers around the world and of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the engineering field. We asked Brittany Argueta, a Process Development Engineer for Harland, what being a woman in engineering means to her: "Being a woman in engineering means breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations. My advice to aspiring women engineers is to stay curious, persevere through challenges, and never underestimate the power of your voice and ideas." Let’s continue to support and empower women in engineering, fostering an environment where innovation and creativity can thrive. #INWED24 #EnhancedByEngineering #Engineering

To mark International Women in Engineering Day, see our Director General, Damien Owens, article on the importance of encouraging more women to participate in engineering, featured in Friday’s Irish Independent According to a recent study, carried out by Ipsos B&A on behalf of Engineers Ireland 39% of women say they do not view engineering as a suitable career, compared to just 29% of men. Similarly, over a third of women respondents said they would not consider the profession if starting a career or pursuing a career change. We can and must forge a path that encourages more women into our industry. On this special day, let's recognise the importance of diversity in engineering and commit to supporting and empowering women in this vital field. #INWED #WomenInEngineering #DiversityInSTEM #EngineeringExcellence #WomenInTech #STEM

Breaking the Mould: The Importance of Women in Engineering 👷♀️ As we celebrate the achievements of women in engineering, it's essential to acknowledge the significant underrepresentation of women in this field. According to the UK's Engineering Council, in 2020, only 12.5% of the engineering workforce in the UK were female, compared to 45.2% in the overall workforce. Despite these numbers, women engineers are making a significant impact in the industry. They're driving innovation, solving complex problems, and pushing boundaries. But we need more of them. To highlight their achievements and inspire future generations, we launched our #ShesAnEngineer campaign. Join us as we share stories of trailblazing women engineers who have shattered stereotypes and overcome challenges to succeed in their careers. By amplifying their voices and celebrating their accomplishments, we hope to inspire more women to pursue careers in engineering and create a more inclusive and diverse industry. Learn more about our #ShesAnEngineer campaign and discover the incredible stories of women engineers who are making a difference: https://lnkd.in/gKra7z4A #ShesanEngineer #WomenInEngineering #WomenInSTEM

Today marks International Women in Engineering Day and as always we at FCC want to celebrate it by continuing to raise awareness within the industry. International Women in Engineering Day is run by the UK charity Women’s Engineering Society. This year’s theme is #Enhancedbyengineering and WES are celebrating the amazing work that women engineers around the world are doing to support lives and livelihoods every day. INWED gives women engineers around the world a profile when they are still hugely under-represented, with 2021 figures indicating that in the UK only 16.5% of engineers are women. As the only platform of its kind, it plays a vital role in encouraging more young women and girls to take up engineering careers. With that being said, let us remember our very own trailblazing women who have shaped the FCC engineering world and continue to inspire the next generation of female engineers by reading their inspiring case studies.
