You get a loan! You get a loan!

Think maintaining a franchise is easy? I was led to believe it was! Today was my daughter's first day of preschool. She woke up super excited and put her hair in these awesome pigtails! She is dressed to the nines! However, every fall and spring there is a huge employee turnover in the restaurant industry as students leave for college or go back to high school. This turnover leaves every business scrambling to find the right help. Not only that but it takes a couple weeks for each new employee to learn all the procedures. We are running short-staffed at Twisted Sugar in Logan so my wife, Elise Munk, had to take Stevie and our three-month-old daughter to help cover. Stevie can be seen waiting patiently but super excited for her big day. Yesterday, was the same scenario with Elise missing our other daughter's first day of kindergarten to cover staffing shortages. It sucks! It's hard! Please be kind to employees in the restaurant industry. Everyone is making sacrifices right now. In addition, the current economy (all politics) has restaurant owners struggling to survive.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. Managing a franchise can indeed present unique challenges. How can customers best support your business during times of staffing shortages and economic difficulties, Shay?
