Hello, welcome back to another video of C2 Today I'm here with Zach Downs, Executive Director of Sheikh, and I ask him what he's thinking about and why you are here at Censorship Conference today. Well, thank you, Cheyenne and hello everybody. My name is Zach Downs again, the Executive Director of CHIC, the Senior Healthcare Innovation Consortium. Here today to really represent the members of our of our consortium, we put together a joint effort with C2 ship the center to stream healthcare in place along with the FDA about the future of healthcare related to home monitoring devices. So definitely happy to be here. Cheyenne, can you tell us a bit about Sheikh, what kind of conception is this, who are the member, what is its mission? Yeah. So Chic again, the Senior Healthcare Innovation Consortium was founded in 2021 based up in Grand Forks, ND. We have 122 members currently. We're a a scientific research consortium dedicated to utilizing technology and data to make a difference in senior healthcare. And prior to my work here with Sheikh, I was actually in the senior healthcare industry managing assisted living communities for about the last seven years. So it's definitely near and dear to my heart's great and the. Musical is I guess adopting more technology or creating technology bringing to the market for senior living, I guess. Yep, Yep, all the above really. We're looking at the future of healthcare and the struggles that we're going to be facing specifically related to staffing. And we think that technology and data can really help make a difference in the future, not only when it comes to staffing but also reducing societal costs when it comes to Medicare and Medicaid. OK. So because I guess you are looking into many technologies, many solutions, a lot of more than 200 members, can you share where do you see the trend of technology or service going towards senior health and care in place? I think just technologies that really involve the senior and really help, you know, the provider provide better care at the right time and at the right place. So for instance, there's a company called Care Predict that we work closely with really related to that senior healthcare industry where we look at all this data and then we build actionable interventions based on that data. So that's really where I see it going. The world has evolved so much when it comes to technology and I think Healthcare is that next sector. Excellent. So if a company wants to join Sheik, do they have to be based on North Dakota or consortium is open to anyone to join? Yeah. You know we're we're open to to people within all 50 States and even international members. I think if people just Google CHIC, the Senior Healthcare Innovation Consortium, we'll find our web page pretty easily and how to join. OK, So what is the domain name? We know how great environment it is to collaborate and consortium also opens door for deployment to try ideas as far as I know. And that could be a great way to pilot your projects and your product and do feasibility study and go to market if I didn't put you on pressure to help with all those. I was expecting to see New York Times among Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Vonage and Planet Fitness for making it very hard to unsubscribe. Talking from the experience! Once I had to file with the privacy commissioner to cancel my gym membership (revoked my permission to keep my banking info in their billing software, so practically made it impossible for them to charge me). #privacy #FTC

New Rules by FTC for Easier Subscription Canceling FTC has has set a new rule around “Click to Cancel” to improve customer experience around automatic subscription renewals. This ruling should reduce the burden of contact center volumes and costs related to disputes. Link to FTC ruling in comments section.

Hinton is sometimes described as the "Godfather of AI" and he helped lay the foundation for the machine learning revolution that started around 2010. Health-care or disease-care?! That is the question! The Quebec government is considering prioritizing family doctors for vulnerable individuals with serious conditions like cancer, mental illness, or cardiovascular disease. While this may address the immediate shortage of healthcare providers, I can’t help but wonder: could this unintentionally push healthy individuals into the unhealthy category? It seems to me this decision is going against the paradigm of preventive health, and continue to keep our system a disease-care vs a true health-care! One of the reasons many people remain healthy is due to consistent access to healthcare services. Reducing this access might solve short-term resource issues, but could it harm preventive health in the long run? If there is choice, could AI step in to fill this gap? With advancements in health tech, AI could potentially support healthy individuals in maintaining their well-being through monitoring, early detection, and guidance. When it comes to fundraising, it’s often said, ‘ask for advice to get money,’ but I wonder, why not simplify the communication? Why play games? Having been on both sides, I’d much prefer to be asked directly for investment if that’s the intention. If the answer is no, I can explain why it doesn’t fit my investment thesis or if I’ve already invested in the current round. And of course, if I have any suggestions to improve the pitch I would happily share it without even asking me. If I believe it would be a good fit for another investor I know, I would refer them. I think we should avoid communication that adds to the cognitive burden for founders or encourages them to say something they don’t mean. When raising funds for our companies, I ask directly for investment consideration, and if the answer is no, any advice or referrals are always appreciated. Running a startup is a complex and emotionally taxing job; I prefer to make it simpler for the founders rather than adding more complexity to it! #startup #vc #fundraising
