💡 The connection in these data points is interesting. One report finds that 66% of employees agree they need to acquire new #skills while another report finds 96% of young respondents believe they can succeed in the coming year with their current skill set. 🤔 What ties them together for me is that 1 in 3 #employers say the current shelf life of #hardskills is under 2 years. 📉 Meaning, the younger #workforce is coming in more equipped with #relevant skills but will soon need to reconcile the weight of #resilient skills. On the other hand, the tenured workforce is acutely aware of the need for #upskilling to keep up with change. So much so that 41% said they would leave for a new role if not provided #learning #opportunities 🤯 https://lnkd.in/gkJQehAz

🚀 Redefining Career Development in Today's Workforce Two-thirds of the workforce doesn't have a college degree. We're living in an era where college degrees are becoming less attainable due to skyrocketing tuition costs and promotion opportunities are scarce. How does this affect career development? 🔹 For Employees: The financial burden of education is pushing the workforce to reconsider traditional paths. Unfortunately, this leaves less room for promotion opportunities, and many find themselves stuck in their current roles without a clear path forward. 🔹 For Employers: Companies are struggling with skill gaps, particularly in soft skills among new hires. The need for reskilling is more crucial than ever, as is creating a culture that promotes growth and development. How can we adjust our approach to development to solve this? 👉 Offer Soft Skills Training: 97% of employers say soft skills are essential, and 85% of career success comes from having well-developed soft skills (Forbes). Unfortunately, only 31% of employers provide soft skills training (Workrowd). This is so important for encouraging growth. 👉 Boost Internal Job Mobility: Only 12% of employees apply what they learn in L&D programs to their jobs (Harvard Business Review). Provide opportunities for employees to use new skills within current roles and beyond. 👉 Enhance Engagement Through Continuous Learning: 74% of employees prefer to learn during their spare time at work (LinkedIn’s Workplace Learning Report). Make learning easy— accessible from anywhere and completed when it's convenient. Today's working context requires fostering a culture where continuous development and internal mobility are part of the fabric of your organization. Let's make investing in every employee's growth a priority to reduce turnover and build a more capable and satisfied workforce. #CareerDevelopment #EmployeeEngagement #WorkforceTraining #HR #Leadership

🚨Upskilling, Reskilling and now Pre-Skilling - Skills Are Important "When setting a new organizational goal for 2024, you might want to consider embracing the practice of “pre-skilling” to ensure your future labor force has the foundational skills needed to tackle the challenges ahead. ... Specifically, pre-skilling prioritizes so-called “soft” (or professional skills as I call them) such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication and emotional intelligence (EQ) as key areas for young people to develop before cultivating other skills that might evolve over the years. ... According to the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Jobs” report, 60% of employers are concerned that skills gaps in local labor markets will be one of the greatest barriers to their business transformations." At Impellam Group we have key virtuosos traits such as curiosity, leading change and innovation that we spotlight. ❓How are you leveraging pre-skilling in your recruiting and hiring process?
