Leona is too kind for saying such nice things about my classes, so I owe her a meal at Mukarami Coffee. But on a serious note, I've always been open about the ups and downs of being in the corporate world. To show that I have the skills and experience to run these classes, I believe it's important to be honest about both my failures and successes. I've been in some really tough situations and navigated risky territories. Sometimes, no matter how well you plan or how much support you have from the higher-ups, a project can still fail dramatically. People can change their minds, and power dynamics can shift. In short, sh!t happens. The key point I want to make is that success isn't an accident. Yes, you need a bit of luck, but you also have to work really hard. It's all about managing risks and equipping yourself and your team with the best tools to tip the odds in your favor. I'll leave you with a story from Richard Feynman, as told to Ralph Leighton in his book "What Do You Care What Other People Think? Further Adventures of a Curious Character." "The next Monday, when the fathers were all back at work, we kids were playing in a field. One kid says to me, 'See that bird? What kind of bird is that?' I said, 'I haven’t the slightest idea what kind of bird it is.' He says, 'It’s a brown-throated thrush. Your father doesn’t teach you anything!' But it was the opposite. He had already taught me: 'See that bird?' he says. 'It’s a Spencer’s warbler.' (I knew he didn’t know the real name.) 'Well, in Italian, it’s a Chutto Lapittida. In Portuguese, it’s a Bom da Peida. In Chinese, it’s a Chung-long-tah, and in Japanese, it’s a Katano Tekeda. You can know the name of that bird in all the languages of the world, but when you’re finished, you’ll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird. You’ll only know about humans in different places, and what they call the bird. So let’s look at the bird and see what it’s doing—that’s what counts.' (I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something.)" I aim to be someone who not only knows the name of something but also understands what it truly is. And that philosophy guides my training approach. (Al Fatihah to my late Abg Alan for introducing me to Feynman, Vonnegut and Tolkien when I was 15, changing my world view and opening up my mind to endless possibilities. I am still angry at you for leaving us, but I miss you very much.)

If you've ever attended a class by Rafizah Amran, you know that you'll always get more than what you bargained for. Let me tell you why that's a good thing. Last Saturday I attended a #goalsetting class by Rafizah called PATH at Mukarami Café in Section 7, Shah Alam. The acronym stands for "Pursuits, Aspirations, Treasures and Habits". It is a framework that she developed on her own and has used for more than 20 years. Having attended several of Rafizah's classes since 2023, I know from experience that every training by her is a masterclass in #behaviouralscience. While she did teach us the framework and guided us through a group exercise using a real study case, she also shared stories of her experience applying PATH at work and in her personal life. That last bit is why I keep coming to Rafizah's classes - I'm not only interested in learning new concepts and frameworks, but I also want to know about their actual applications. Most trainers (and people on LinkedIn) will only share about their triumphs, but Rafizah will also share about what went wrong despite her/her team's best efforts and how she would have done it better the second time around. Whenever I interview people, I always ask them about the challenges that they've faced, how they overcame those trials and what they learned from those difficult times. It takes courage to admit our struggles but we also stand to gain so much more when we talk about mistakes and failures, because we can help others by sharing our stories. I've worked for close to two decades and I know that I've made plenty of wrong moves. Some of them were quite painful (and expensive!) but learning from them have made me a much better person. I do my best to pass on the lessons to others, especially to adik-adik who are just starting their careers, because we should all be who we needed when we were younger. So if you see Rafizah announcing her upcoming classes, grab a spot immediately! You'll not only learn more than you signed up for, but because her #SuaraKamiAtMukarami community classes are held at a Mukarami Café, you should sample their addictive signature spiced herb chicken chop, the unbelievably sedap spicy milky carbonara ramen and gula apong latte (as a Sarawakian, aek tok nang nyaman!), amongst others. I'm just a regular at Mukarami Café in USJ21 and these are some of my favourites. 🤭 See you in the next class! #PersonalDevelopment Photos (clockwise from top left): 1. Group photo with Rafizah and several participants (hi Izyan Mohamad ! 🤭) 2. Rafizah explaining PATH with a Mukarami customisable drink in her hand. 3. The spicy milky carbonara ramen, a specialty at Mukarami Café. I ordered additional chicken chop for this dish. 4. Yes Rafizah is still holding her drink. 😂 5. The PATH class in session. Mukarami Café in Section 7, Shah Alam is actually the training centre for its staff so there's a dedicated training room there.

Learning is a journey not a destination. Some people perceive learning and gaining knowledge as something you just do once and hands up, but that's not true. Learning is a continuous process, it's something you have to engage yourself in until the day you draw your last breath. Learning gives you an edge and advantage in life, it helps you navigate life with your heads up. Learning builds your confidence, it exposes you to new informations. And there's a popular saying "If you are not informed, you will be deformed". That is why I am excited to share that I have joined the 21-day challenge with Amaka Ifeduba For the next three weeks, I hope to: Learn, unlearn and relearn. Build great connections and network with incredible people across various Industries. #elevateyourprofessionalpresencewith_Amaka

Trust your day is going well. It’s just 5 days to the Soft Skills Training, and I’m super excited to have an awesome time learning with you! But first, let me tell you how I first learned about soft skills. As you already know, I’m passionate about learning, so when I heard there were skills labeled "soft," I was intrigued. Naturally, I didn’t let it slide! I dug deeper, watched a few YouTube videos, and learned the difference between soft skills and hard skills. This curiosity eventually led me to talk about soft skills as a panelist at the just-concluded CARTECH 1.0 in my school fellowship Fcs Sazu . Preparing for that event pushed me to dive even deeper into learning and practicing these skills. Along the way, I took a certified free course on Jobberman Nigeria focused on soft skills, which I’m super grateful for! It broadened my knowledge, especially with skills essential for career growth, like employability skills. These are transferable skills that can be applied anywhere! If you’ve followed my journey, you’ll see I went from knowing absolutely nothing about soft skills to now practicing them consciously in my everyday life. And I want you to experience this growth too. If you're a young person looking to develop these essential skills, join us Learn with Dolapo this weekend for a free training on soft skills! You'll learn practical steps to start implementing them immediately and get access to some valuable materials afterward. Registration is key as it will give you access to all the materials. If you’re interested in being part of this free training, Register here rhttps://lnkd.in/dVHUG-v5 #learnwithdolapo #SoftSkills #training #freetraining
