Japan’s all women divers have an artistic resilience to their nonchalant presence. They observe and inquire, and within them is a knowledge so profound and worth sharing. 🤿 In the second installation of our collaborative story project with the Edges of Earth Expedition team, we get a front row seat to the historical tale of these incredible women on the ocean’s frontlines, and why less women are taking up the daunting task today. 📖 https://lnkd.in/du3jTnNh #SHEChangesClimate | Andi Cross | Marla Tomorug | Adam Moore

Women's Day and special... Europe is more socialist than our Indian subcontinent which I've observed more closely because of the influence of women almost in every aspects. Men and women differ biologically, and this difference will never go away. Quantum Physics also confirms that the men's Root Chakra is the energy center, whereas the women's is the heart. Please make sure that your women have complete control over decision-making at home. Con calma, following my metamorphosis, I'm doing my best advocating/ convincing my family for their freedom, facility, experience as far as possible. Kindness doesn't work; the mother and daughter-in-law should respect one another. Even though we don't adhere to European customs or culture, we can nevertheless advance our interpretation. Our culture is rich, but who cares when there's internal conflict, victimization, violence, and repression? Happy Women's Day now and always! Respected Ladies! 130 trillion USD. This is the amount calculated by experts to contribute repairing the harms of transatlantic enslavement. This history still impacts us, and especially people of African descent, who continue to experience discrimination due to the racist set of thinking developed by colonial powers to justify enslavement of Africans. In this regard, the unique experience of enslaved women and Afro-descendent women should be studied further, as they accumulate discriminatory and abuse patterns. #Reparatoryjustice should therefore provide specific actions towards women, to adequately address their challenges through a co-constructive approach. Nevertheless, let’s not forget that this history of suffering is also one of incredible contributions and resistances by enslaved peoples and their descendants, that should be recognized and celebrated as a lesson of #humanrights consolidation worldwide. As part of UNESCO's Routes of Enslaved People programme 30th anniversary, the latest UNESCO Courier edition studies all these themes, highlighting how we can learn from history to build a #fairerworld . For the complete list of activities of the Routes’ 30th anniversary please refer to the calendar accessible here: https://lnkd.in/eCMte6Dk . To learn more about the actions of #UNESCO to combat racism and discrimination, you will find relevant information on our dedicated page: https://lnkd.in/eSx4UEn2. Among our most impactful initiatives is the annual Global Forum Against Racism and Discrimination.

The Portuguese Revolution of April 25th, 1974, stands as a profound testament to the enduring human quest for freedom, justice, and equality. Emerging from the grip of a decades-long authoritarian regime, the Carnation Revolution, as it came to be known, sparked a cascade of transformations that reverberated far beyond the borders of Portugal. At its heart, the revolution was not merely about political change, but a profound reimagining of society's values. It was a clarion call for the intrinsic worth of every individual, irrespective of social status, gender, or sexual orientation. Freedom, in its truest sense, was the rallying cry. Not just the absence of chains, but the liberty to speak, to dissent, to love, and to live authentically. It was a proclamation that human dignity could not be subjugated by the iron fist of authoritarian rule. The revolutionaries of April 25th fought not for material gain, but for the intangible treasures of equality and justice. They understood that true wealth lies not in possessions, but in the richness of a society where every voice is heard, and every life is valued. Central to this struggle was the recognition of women's rights and emancipation. The revolutionaries understood that a society cannot be truly free when half of its population is shackled by inequality and oppression. Thus, the revolution became a beacon for women's empowerment, heralding a new era of equality and opportunity. Moreover, the revolution of April 25th was a clarion call for free choice in all aspects of life, including sexual orientation. It was a rejection of the stifling social norms that sought to dictate whom one could love or how one could express themselves. In its place, the revolutionaries championed the right of every individual to love and live freely, without fear of persecution or discrimination. In the annals of history, the Portuguese Revolution of April 25th, 1974, stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of humanity. It reminds us that, even in the darkest of times, the flame of freedom and justice can never be extinguished. It calls upon us to continue the fight for equality, dignity, and freedom, knowing that the struggle itself is a testament to the values we hold most dear. #freedom #equality #dignity #justice #portugal

Today, we celebrate the UN International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. In December 1994, the United Nations General Assembly decided to mark every 9 August as International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. The date is significant as it marks the first meeting - back in 1982 - of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations. This International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2024 is focusing on ‘Protecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation and Initial Contact’. Indigenous Peoples in voluntary isolation and initial contact are the best protectors of the forest. Where their collective rights to lands and territories are protected, the forests thrive, alongside their societies. And not only is their survival crucial to the protection of our planet, but it is crucial to the protection of cultural and linguistic diversity. In today’s hyper-connected world, the existence of Indigenous Peoples in voluntary isolation and initial contact is a testament to the rich and complex tapestry of humanity, and it is a huge loss to our world if they cease to exist. Let's honour the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities worldwide. It's crucial to stand in solidarity, promote their rights, and protect their invaluable knowledge for a sustainable future. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

International Indigenous Day 🌏👥 International Indigenous Day, celebrated annually on August 9th, is a significant day that honors the diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of indigenous peoples worldwide. Established by the United Nations in 1994, this day raises awareness about the rights and struggles of indigenous communities and recognizes their role in the global community. Indigenous people, numbering over 476 million across 90 countries, possess unique cultures, languages, and knowledge systems that are deeply connected to the natural environment. Their contributions to biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and cultural preservation are invaluable. However, indigenous communities often face challenges such as discrimination, loss of land, and cultural erasure, which threaten their way of life and survival. International Indigenous Day serves as a platform to address these issues and advocate for the protection of indigenous rights. It encourages dialogue and collaboration between governments, organizations, and indigenous communities to create policies that respect their rights and promote their well-being. The day also highlights the importance of preserving indigenous languages, which are at risk of extinction, as they are crucial for maintaining cultural identity and heritage. In celebrating International Indigenous Day, the global community is reminded of the resilience and wisdom of indigenous peoples. It is a day to honor their contributions, acknowledge their struggles, and support their ongoing fight for justice, equality, and the preservation of their rich cultural heritage. ✒Article Written by-: Nethma Senarath 🎨Post Designed by-: Githma Adhikari #InternationalIndigenousDay #ZeroPlasticUOP #UniversityofPeradeniya

One of the key commitments that stood out for me from the Pact for the Future, Summit of the Future outcome document, is the pledge to honour, promote, and preserve cultural diversity and heritage. It emphasizes the importance of languages, knowledge systems, traditions, and fostering intercultural and interreligious dialogue. A crucial element in this commitment is the call for strengthened international cooperation on the return and restitution of cultural properties from monuments to manuscripts to their countries of origin (This will be a big talk). This appeal not only targets governments but also encourages private entities to join the effort, ensuring that cultural treasures of spiritual, ancestral, historical, and cultural value are preserved and returned to where they belong. This is a profound step toward safeguarding our global heritage and nurturing a more inclusive, respectful, and connected world. i guess this is more happy news to Aliguma Ahabyona Akiiki and bwana Albert Kasozi. #CulturalHeritage #CulturalDiversity #GlobalCooperation #OurCommonFuture

🇳🇴 Happy Constitution Day, Norway! 🎉 Today, as we celebrate our cherished national day, we're reminded of a profound thought from Danby Choi: 'It's not agreement that makes Norway an incredible place to live; it's the disagreements.' This is the reason Henrik Ibsen and Edvard Munch became famous in the first place. They explored the very essence of human conflict and introspection - even when it was controversial. Women’s rights are now obvious and vital. That’s what we learned from Ibsen's 'A Doll's House'. It’s a dialogue on discord that sparks greater awareness and freedom. Our ability to embrace and discuss our differences is what strengthens our society. As Hegel would put it in his philosophy: Thesis + Antithesis = Synthesis. And democracies allow for positive infinities of such synthesis - as opposed to negative. Today, let's celebrate our capacity to disagree constructively—because it’s at the heart of our progress and unity. Let’s cherish our shared values and the beautiful diversity of thought that makes Norway truly unique. 🌟 #ConstitutionDay #Norway #HenrikIbsen #EdvardMunch #Philosophy #NationalDay"

Yesterday, my colleague, friend, and boss Per Amrén, asked me a question that left me very thoughtful. At the same time, it highlighted the fundamental essence that has driven my being in life, rooted in the cultural values I have acquired along the way. This has shaped who I am and what I represent. "My own positive contribution to the cultural diversity of my company," as an Andean Peruvian, is enriched by integrating aspects from different cultural traditions, such as Georgian-Caucasian and Swedish, and combining values that promote reciprocity, patience, and respect for diversity. From my Andean background, the principle of reciprocity, or "ayni," is fundamental. This ancient value fosters cooperation, where collective effort and mutual support create strong relationships based on trust. In the workplace, this approach not only enhances teamwork but also encourages a sense of community where each individual feels valued. The Georgian-Caucasian culture teaches us the importance of patience and long-term commitment, symbolized in their millennia-old winemaking tradition. Wine production in Georgia reflects a deep respect for time and effort. This cultural lesson reminds us that patience and diligent work, much like in life, lead to higher quality results. From Swedish culture, I draw the concept of "lagom," which represents the right balance: not too much, not too little, but just enough. This approach promotes moderation and balance, applicable in both work relationships and decision-making. "Lagom" encourages equality and inclusion, fostering a work environment where decisions are made fairly and everyone has an important role in the organization. Additionally, Swedish society is known for its strong commitment to democratic values, respect for human rights, and the defense of diversity. These principles emphasize trust among people, where every voice is heard and respected. This respect for equality and diversity complements the Andean values of reciprocity, the Georgian emphasis on patience, and the Swedish sense of community. By incorporating Andean reciprocity, Georgian patience, and Swedish balance into my professional life, I contribute to my company with an inclusive approach that values diversity, promotes collaboration, and respects collective effort. In this multifaceted environment, the combination of these cultural perspectives strengthens mutual respect, fosters a sense of fairness, and encourages cooperation toward common goals, creating a more harmonious and effective Prevas. "Hello, Possibilities." Marco Ugarte D. 24.10.10. #Prevas #Elkraft
