Turns out that there is a Boeing protocol that when an aircraft has been in storage for over a year, you cannot operate a ferry flight with it until you have done a landing gear retraction test. If your aircraft is stored remotely enough, first you need to come up with a set of appropriate jacks for each gear, ship them to your storage location and secure them, then lift that bird up and demonstrate you can fully retract and extend the gear as if in flight. The video of that here shows it impressively enough, but when you look a little closer at the height of the man standing beside the jacks, this becomes kind of awesome. I love the aviation industry.
