It’s about time! The FDA has just given approval to allow women to self-collect vaginal samples for human papillomavirus (HPV) testing in a health care setting. HPV is the cause of virtually all cervical cancer, and HPV testing is the preferred screening method by the American Cancer Society. Self-collection can improve cervical cancer screening access, especially in unscreened and under-screened populations. With vaginal self-collection as an option for cervical cancer screening, women are more inclined to participate in such care, allowing health care providers an alternative option to identify a high-risk HPV infection in more convenient care settings. #cervicalcancer #womenshealth #publichealth #BDemployee https://bit.ly/4cFFNZy

🌟 What is Cervical Cancer Screening? 🌟 Cervical cancer screening helps detect early signs of cervical cancer before symptoms appear, allowing for prevention or early treatment. Two important tests can make a difference: ✔️ The Pap Test checks for abnormal cell changes in the cervix. ✔️ The HPV Test detects high-risk types of HPV, even before visible changes occur. Each year, an estimated 12,000 new cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed in the U.S., and sadly, around 4,000 women lose their lives to this disease. Early detection saves lives! 💜 Talk to your Duffy Care Team about how best to schedule your cervical cancer screening or other women’s health services today. #CervicalCancerAwareness #GetScreened #PreventionMatters #HealthEquity #WomensHealth

Let’s take charge of our health! 💪 Cervical cancer is preventable, and early detection is key. Here’s why you should prioritize regular screenings: 🌺 Regular cervical cancer screenings can detect this cancer in its early stages when it is easier to treat. 🌺 Primary care providers and gynecologists provide this screening using a PAP test, which looks for abnormal cells on cervix. PAPs are often done with an HPV test to check for high-risk strains of the virus. 🌺 Regular screenings ensure timely intervention and better outcomes. 🌺 Early detection saves lives! Share this post with your female friends, sisters, and relatives. Raise awareness and encourage everyone to get screened. 🙌 #CervicalCancerAwareness #WomensHealth #ScreeningMatters #GyniusPlus #CervicalCancerElimination

This week is Cervical Screening Awareness Week! Cervical screening detects HPV, these are types of viral infection which are the main cause of cervical cancer. If caught early, these can be treated before they turn into cervical cancer. All those eligible should attend their screenings regularly (current recommended intervals are every three years for those aged 25-49, and every five years for those aged 50-64). More attended their appointment last year compared to previous years and Public Health want to continue that positive trend. We can help with this by encouraging everyone who has been invited to attend their free screening! #WilliamsMedical #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek
