It's best practice to also standardize the sequence of the transfer of care in addition to standardizing bedside report (MIST). #TraumaEducation #MetrolinaTrauma #Prehospital #SoMe4Trauma #EMS #EMT #Paramedic #EmergencyMedicine #TraumaCenter #TraumaNurse #EmergencyNurse #HEMS #FlightMedic #FlightNurse #FlightTherapist

Imagine receiving life-saving ECMO treatment right on the floor of the metro or even from a helicopter. Pre-hospital ECMO is revolutionizing emergency medicine worldwide, with teams like Dr. Yiannopoulos and Dr. Bardos using mobile ECMO vans in Minneapolis. In the Netherlands, Dennis Mirandas helicopter-based service showcases innovation by reducing arrest-to-ECMO time to just 40 minutes. As various global teams push boundaries, how do you see pre-hospital ECMO impacting emergency care in your region? Jon Marinaro is a critical care physician. There’s a big disconnect here that I think GP locums can really help with. Our experience here at NASGP is that GP partners and salaried GPs tend to secure their holiday leave often a year in advance (young kids, rota commitments, so high demand for school holidays etc). But GP locums, on whole, mostly tend to publish their live bookable sessions on our LocumDeck platform between a few weeks to a few months in advance. Those locums who publish their instantly-bookable clinical sessions up to a year in advance tend to be in the minority, but a year in advance is when the majority of practices book their cover, so are able to fill their LocumDeck calendar well in advance. For locums, we always recommend they too plan their holiday leave well in advance, and block out their LocumDeck availability for those times, so as not to get booked and then need to cancel; practices must be able to trust a locum’s commitent to providing support and cover for any practice/neighbourhood where they practise.
In our 2024 practices survey, half of all respondents said the number one reason they use GP locums at their practice is for holidays. Add your availability on LocumDeck for Christmas 2024, Easter 2025 and next summer today to get ahead of the crowd. Not a member yet? First-pass success matters in airway science. Compared to first-attempt success, each successful attempt confers increased risk of major adverse events: 2x = 4.4x odds of major AE 3x = 7.4x odds of major AE 4x = 13.9x odds of major AE 5+x = 9.3x odds of major AE Things that define a major AE: -Esophageal intubation (delayed recognition) -Bradydysrhythmia -Tachydysrhythmia -Cardiac arrest -Hypotension -Hypoxia -Laryngospasm -Pneumothorax Thanks to @journalfeedem for the recent shout-out https://lnkd.in/dHb-Q7DZ PMID 39288499 #emergency #emergencymedicine #criticalcare #icu #erlife #iculife

2025 is starting off great for #Summacor! Honored to be invited to present the #LCAPP (Linear Cardiac Assist Pulsatile Pump) at #CRF #THT2025 #SharkTank in Boston this February! The LCAPP's key advantage in comparison to other commercial #MCS platforms is our highly efficient, #pulsatile linear pump that can #unload the left ventricle from the aorta. Thanks to some of our key advisors: Manesh Patel, MD, Marat Fudim, Barry Greenberg, Morton Kern. Video of the #LCAPP on the bench - currently 14Fr sheath, safer aortic positioning, 7L/min pulsatile flow, PV loop shows both pressure and volume (EDV) unloading for both acute and acute on chronic animal models.

As we reflect on the meeting co-chaired by THOR Network Foundation and The Allo Hope Foundation, a few things are clear. ✨ This meeting (and the extensive preparation that went in to it) provide an ideal model for establishing clinical care guidelines, with patients at the center of the discussion, and all stakeholders present at the table. ✨ Systematic reviews and original research are critical tools for understanding the breadth and strength of available evidence and filling gaps to establish evidence-based clinical care guidelines. ✨ These groups were able to bring about incredible progress in establishing guidelines that will benefit patients receiving blood transfusions, and those with alloimmunization and HDFN. Much of the credit goes to Phil Spinella, Molly Sherwood, Bethany Weathersby, and Katie Shanahan for elevating these issues and bringing all the pieces together. It was incredible to see your dedication and expertise throughout the discussion. We are humbled to have been a part of it, and we look forward to seeing this model deployed in other areas of medicine and across our other practice areas. #PatientCentered #ClinicalCareGuidelines #SystematicReviews #ClinicalStudies #TransfusionMedicine #HDFN
