When Ian led this retreat last year, by day two I had to invite him back because it was just so rich. 🍰 I'm now part of Ian's fan club for sure just as Jamie Smart has been for 2+ decades 😍 Highly recommend you joining us for what promises to be a space of lightheartedness, depth, connection and transformation is always a very strong possibility (not promising that because I can't) 😆 Link to book in the first comment.

Thanks to Rob Norman and Digiday, I needed a laugh today and this post got me all nostalgic. I honestly haven't kept track of how many digital events I've spoken at around the world. My roles in hosting, producing, or serving on content and editorial boards have led to some interesting experiences, to say the least. Much to the chagrin of older and wiser Kevin, slightly younger Kevin always approached a speaking invitation with value first, self interest a distant second. The event organizers seemed to think similarly for a time, seeking out people who could shuffle the corporate coil and add value. Then one day -- and I remember this distinctly-- I was speaking at an event in DC and realized I was the only one who hadn't paid to be on the panel. While the formulaic approach (speaker company, speaker company) has taken longer to rot in the sun, the decline of quality content and its relationship to undisclosed (or disclosed) financial relationships shouldn't surprise anyone. So here's my handy dandy -- no longer any skin in the game-- guide to attending events. When an event stops inviting people who can (and enjoy) calling bullspit, find another one. When you go and feel as though you and your time have been sold to the highest bidder, find another one. When an event "asset" is sold to another company seeking to "monetize it" better, said effort is 100% guaranteed to disgorge the event's soul, so find another one. When you look around and see the same people talking about the same things, who all paid the same amount "for the honor of being invited, " who are all beholden to the same people, you should probably... I'm attending and speaking at far fewer events these days. When I do, I'll post about it and let you know. I don't do pay for play and I promise I'll call them as I see them. https://lnkd.in/erx4xDUn

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a specific detail on our INTERACTIONS 2025 Eventbrite page... the only tickets we have for sale are for the whole two-day event: https://lnkd.in/ewGnD_Sd Why? Well, we are intentionally curating our March 2025 conference in Exeter. The order of speakers, the flow between sessions, and the stories shared. Together, we'll go on a journey over the two days. Of course, we can't make everyone come to both days – but where day 1 will pose thought-provoking questions, day 2 will help us find answers. Do you have your ticket yet?

When I was an active member of the Rotaract Club, one of the most exciting aspects for me was always citing the 4-Way Test. The way it resonates with me, both personally and professionally, is remarkable. As I often reflect on it, I find it to be a powerful guide for how we interact with others at home, in the community, or in business. The 4-Way Test of the things we think, do, or say: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Is it beneficial to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Let's focus on the fourth point: Will it build goodwill and better friendships? In every relationship, whether personal or professional, fostering goodwill should be a priority. Goodwill is the foundation of trust and respect, which strengthens bonds and leads to enduring friendships. In business, it builds networks and partnerships that can thrive on mutual understanding. In our communities and homes, it fosters a sense of belonging and support. As we go about our daily activities, let’s ask ourselves—are we building goodwill? Are we cultivating friendships that inspire growth, collaboration, and trust? These are the values that enrich our lives and create lasting impact. Have a beautiful Wednesday😍

I hope everyone (at least my Northern Hemisphere friends) had a great summer. Taking a break from social media was just what I needed! But, now we're back with the Nice Guy/Gal Awards. For those of you who aren't familiar with the awards, we are looking to celebrate those people in our lives who are good people. Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals). If you want to nominate someone, just shoot me a private message by 5:00 EST on Thursday. There are only 3 requirements: 1) you have to be connected to the person you nominate 2) you can only nominate one person per week 3) you can’t nominate yourself 😀 If you want to provide a brief reason for your selection, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement. Let’s recognize people who make a difference simply by being nice. Have a great week, everyone. https://lnkd.in/efTdSmWY #network #sportsbiz #people #niceguy #networking #sportsmarketing
