The hydrogen-powered Mirai is Toyota Motor Corporation’s fuel cell take on transportation, converting #hydrogen to electricity that powers the zero-emissions car. This is just one of Toyota’s alt-fuel vehicles that may become popular with the accessibility of #ICE alternatives and the growth of hydrogen/EV infrastructure. Daimler Truck AG has unveiled Greenlane Infrastructure's first EV charging corridor for commercial vehicles in the United States. Greenlane™ is a joint venture between Daimler Truck North America, NextEra Energy Resources, and BlackRock (via a fund managed by its Climate Infrastructure business). Electric trucks - are they a viable solution? In a significant development for #sustainable transportation, Mercedes-Benz AG Trucks has initiated a Europe-wide test drive for its new electric model, the eActros 600. This marks a pivotal moment in assessing the practicality of electric #trucks for long-haul operations 🔋   But are they capable of replacing traditional ones?   Currently, electric trucks constitute a small portion of the market, yet their presence is steadily increasing. In 2023, a total of 5,279 electric trucks over 3.5 tons GVW were registered across all European Union countries, more than doubling the numbers from 2022. However, most of these registrations are concentrated in the Netherlands and Germany, with other countries showing reluctance due to varying challenges.   Alongside electric trucks, we must also consider viable alternatives like hydrogen and LNG-powered #vehicles. Hydrogen trucks offer the dual benefits of fast refueling and zero emissions, presenting a compelling case for their use in long-haul transport. Similarly, LNG trucks provide a cleaner alternative to diesel with a longer range, potentially bridging the gap until electric #infrastructure becomes more robust 🛣️   Considering the current advancements and challenges, how viable are electric trucks as a replacement for traditional ones, and what role might hydrogen and LNG-powered vehicles play in the future of long-haul transportation?

We had recently organized a Survey on all our Social Media platforms to assess the most important factors that would encourage a Driver to shift from an ICE vehicle to an Electric vehicle. Almost 50% of the survey respondents identified “Accessibility of a Charging network” as the most critical factor that would encourage this transition. EVMERGE is working to address this gap in the market. With more chargers being added to our network, we hope to address this concern and support the transition of Drivers from regular to Electric vehicles.
