We've been selected by Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power), and the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), as one of nine specialist partners for a landmark carbon capture scheme with a combined value of around £4bn. With our partners, our role is to oversee and manage the #engineering #procurement and #construction of the onshore CO2 gathering system and associated utilities serving the East Coast Cluster. NZT Power, a joint venture between bp and Equinor, aims to: 🏡 Generate up to 860 megawatts of low-carbon power equivalent to the average electricity requirements of around 1.3m UK homes 🌊 Capture up to 2m tonnes of CO2 per year that would then be transported and securely stored by the NEP in subsea storage sites beneath the North Sea Read the full release to learn about this important milestone in helping the UK pursue its #netzero plans 👉 https://bit.ly/3XzwG6c #SustainableInfrastructure #decarbonisation #infrastructure

Congratulations to Shell and ATCO EnPower for the FIDs on two projects that will represent a significant step towards a lower emission future with roots in Alberta's Industrial Heartland: ✔ Shell Polaris is a carbon capture project at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park in AIH. Polaris is designed to capture approximately 650,000 tonnes of CO2 annually from the Shell complex. ✔ Atlas Carbon Storage Hub. In partnership with ATCO EnPower, the first phase of Atlas will provide permanent underground storage for CO2 captured by the Polaris project. Both projects are expected to begin operations toward the end of 2028. https://lnkd.in/g9sJ4aAe

Are you attending the BGS Group’s Petrochemical and Refining Congress in Amsterdam next week? Join Marcos Matijasevich, our Head of Low Carbon Transition, as he discusses our $2.4bn investment to transform our Stanlow site into one of Europe’s largest energy transition hubs to provide the low carbon energy vectors the market will need in the future. Work has already started with the installation of the first hydrogen-ready furnace in any UK refinery and we have a clear target to decarbonise our manufacturing operations by 95% before 2030. This will be achieved through fuel switching, energy efficiency projects and industrial carbon capture. #transformingfortomorrow #decarbonisation #energytransition #fuelswitching #energyefficiency #industrialcarboncapture #PRCEurope2024 Marcos Matijasevich | Michelle Lewis | Tim Shire | Samuel Neale

TotalEnergies has signed an agreement to fully acquire Talos Low Carbon Solutions (TLCS), a US-based carbon capture and storage company. As a result of the deal, TotalEnergies will own a 25% share in the Bayou Bend carbon transportation and storage project sited along the Texas Gulf Coast. TotalEnergies enters the project alongside Chevron (50%, operator) and Equinor (25%). TotalEnergies will also own a 65% operated interest in the Harvest Bend project in Louisiana and a 50% interest in the Coastal Bend project in Texas. However, TotalEnergies intends to divest Coastal Bend and Harvest Bend due to the two projects being located farther away from TLCS’s other existing assets. “TotalEnergies is pleased to enter the Bayou Bend project through the acquisition of Talos Low Carbon Solutions,” said Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies. “Ideally located close to our Port Arthur refinery and our petrochemicals assets in La Porte, this project will be instrumental for the reduction of direct emissions from our US operations. “This transaction gives momentum to the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate US emissions and marks a milestone on our journey to get to Net Zero by 2050, together with society.” #cleanenergy

Senior Energy Executive - Oil & Gas, Midstream. Providing operational and marketing solutions to the Exploration and Production, Midstream and RNG sectors.
Interested deal, selling the CCS project to pay down debt. Total Energies has made a strategic move in acquiring Talos Low Carbon Solutions (TLCS), an early-mover American company specializing in carbon capture and storage (CCS). The deal, valued at $148 million, includes a mix of cash and strategic positioning. This move aligns with TotalEnergies' commitment to decarbonization and its journey toward Net Zero by 2050. The Bayou Bend project, located along the Texas Gulf Coast, is a major CO2 storage project close to Total Energies' existing assets in the region. It covers about 600 km² and has the potential to store several hundred million tons of CO2. This offers a world-class opportunity for CCS development due to its location, size, and favorable geological characteristics. #CarbonCaptureAndStorage #Decarbonization https://lnkd.in/gFSJ9GGY
