Dana-Farber’s Adult and Pediatric Family Advisory Councils (PFAC) were recently honored with two PFACtor Awards at the 7th annual Patient Experience Symposium, hosted by the ICD Healthcare Network in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The ICD Healthcare Network’s inaugural PFACtor Awards recognize leadership, creativity, and innovation factors in the implementation of these volunteer groups and other organizations with the same function. The Institute’s PFACs were recognized with awards for Excellence and Innovation in Oncology for their groundbreaking work in developing the PFAC Advocacy Guidebook and their collaboration with Dana-Farber's Quality and Patient Safety team during Patient Experience Week 2023 in April.
“It is a tremendous honor for our PFACs to be recognized nationally for their work,” says Victoria Baggio, MSW, program manager for Patient and Family Advisory Councils at the Institute and one of three conference attendees from Dana-Farber to accept the awards. “This award is a testament to our PFAC members' dedication, bravery, and collaboration with Institute leaders.”
Baggio was joined by Patricia Stahl, MEd, director of Volunteer Services and Patient Programs at the Institute, and Meg Shea, co-chair of the Pediatric PFAC.
Founded in 1998, the PFACs at Dana-Farber serve as a national model among health care institutions for patient and family participation in clinical services. Members work with hospital leaders and staff, who consider patient and family feedback, to help shape key decisions that affect patient care and the patient experience. 👏
