'It is a national scandal that in a wealthy, modern country any child could die homeless.'   With 161,000 children trapped in temporary accommodation today's figures show the desperate need to build genuinely affordable social homes says Shelter's Polly Neate CBE FAcSS LLD(hc). The housing emergency must not be allowed to continue to put children's health at risk.

Go back to why we have temporary housing and realise we have not enough social housing maybe! Then look at my previous comments and realise who is driving this situation both developers profits and bankers particularly pension fund managers who live in leafy detached multi roomed accommodation because they are huge salaries and detached from real life

Where is the vision, where is the strategic plan, the objectives and action plan. We are 7 months in. It’s all about execution. Why am I reading constant reports about the housing crisis and the benefits of solving it. Where is the leadership. We have the resources . It’s mindset that’s slowing us down. Do they want some help? We need results , not politics.

Something we all as a society should be ashamed off.

Not sure if anyone has heard about the shocking news about the Exeter development along the quayside? It is not just disgusting it is an outrage yet again developers are writing the script not the council who seem unable to do anything against them !

I do wonder why there's planning permission etc required are pod and eco home proper housing that can be built as easy as they can be taken down literally in a matter of hours. Instead of building social housing from brick which can take months to years why are we not doing more with flat pack homes?

I suggest people look at the new development at Exeter by the quay. The developer has forced the council to accept a development of several hundred homes but has not included social housing within it. This is the issue here, developers riding rough shod over councils. Pressure should be put on the government to state at least 50% if not more developments must be social housing, not just affordable rents. If developers retain parcels of land then the government should also legislate that councils can compulsory purchase land held back and not used by developers at less value than development costs. They can then open bidders to build 100% social housing.

I can’t read the article, but based on some of the temporary accommodation and some housing in the private rental sector I have been in, sadly whilst horrified I am not entirely surprised.

A newly developed form of temporary housing topology has become increasingly necessary due to the rising number of children forced to live in temporary accommodations, a situation that has tragically contributed to these appalling deaths. In 2017, my MMC FlexiTA Rubix’s Configurator concept was introduced to help alleviate these dire housing conditions and reduce the steadily increasing government expenditure. The updated MMC FlexiTA Rubix’s Configurator allows for flexible combinations of mixed tenure and provides internal views of various stackable temporary accommodation unit types.

Truly shocking but sadly not surprising! Things need to be fixed and attitudes changed! This is a deep rooted social issue! It should not be happening.
