AVP - Currently delivering market leading permanent and contract recruitment solutions across our cyber security, digital forensics, incident response and eDiscovery markets.
*New Program – “Veterans in Transit” – Hampton North – Starting Friday 16th August* Starting Friday 16th August, I will be offering free consultation sessions to exiting US or UK military servants and current or ex law enforcement personal looking to transition into the commercial cyber security world. These sessions will run between 8am – 12pm ET every Friday and they will be in 20 minutes slots. What will these sessions include? - Guidance on how to position yourself to get the most success when applying for jobs in the private sector. - I will share examples of who I’ve supported previously in transition and why and how they were successful. - Resume advice and support. - Road mapping, where do you want to be in 10 years? We can break it down step by step. - Questions? What do you want to know about the current market and how can Hampton North help. - Sharing salary survey information, you might be under or over asking. - Where are you best suited based on your skillset and personality? Services? Vendors? Enterprise? The private sector cyber security world is grateful for such a high percentage of talented professionals that have made the transition, and if a designated “Veterans in Transit” Program further helps those that need guidance and support, then let's do it. Although I speak to numerous veterans looking to transition every week, I think a designated period where I can purely focus on your best interests, gives you the time and respect you deserve. If you’re interested in speaking with me, please send me an email to James.Lees@hamptonnorth.com with “Veterans in Transit” in the subject line. #hamptonnorth #veterans #lawenforcement

Sunday Thought Aging So, one of the challenges that many military veterans have is that they may appear to be "too old" or have too many years of experience to be a viable candidate for their first non-military job. Saying things like "Over 25 years of leadership" certainly does not give a potential employer a "warm and fuzzy" feeling if they are focusing on getting younger people into their organization. One good way to not give the "too old" impression is to carefully word your experience to only slightly exceed the minimum required experience that is stated on the job that you are applying for. As an example, if the posting requires "at least 5 years experience in cyber threat analysis" there is no reason to submit a resume that says that you have "over 25 years experience in cyber threat analysis." Simply state within your resume that you have "over 5 years of experience." What are some other ways that you have found work well to not make yourself appear too old or too experienced when seeking a new job? #SundayThought #MilitaryTransition #JobApplication This topic was recommended by my good friend, David P.
