Fowler School of Law student organizations leave no stone unturned when it comes to raising funds for a good cause. Our Public Interest Law Foundation students have been hard at work over the last two weeks raising funds and awareness for their 2024 Fundraiser Raffle, the proceeds of which are used to support our students working in low-paying or unpaid positions in public interest jobs and judicial externships. Hey everyone 👋   With 30 June coming up, you might be wanting to maximise your tax returns for this financial year through a tax-deductible gift.   One thing you may be able to do this is through a donation to a community legal centre. 💵   There are 26 CLCs and most of them have deductible gift recipient status (but check that first!).   CLCs are on the frontlines of justice, they are non-profit and independent organisations providing free or low-cost legal support to people when they need it most. They are all a bit different, some are demographic or issue-specific (such as Youth Legal Service for young people and Street Law Centre for homeless people) and others are location-based (like Kimberley Community Legal Services and Fremantle Community Legal Centre). ⚖️   Many of them run on the smell of an oily rag, working magic with the income and small donations they receive.   To find a CLC and make a donation before the end of the tax year, consult Community Legal WA’s directory here >> https://lnkd.in/gCJ42nsi   This is just one way to contribute to advancing access to justice, we have a whole page on our website which gives some suggestions.
