Getting into the social world of hospitality was a chilled feeling, as it is a movement in your hospitality experiences, expertise and professionalism. the only field that requires your smile even in pain, every guest feels in entitled of quality service even in rudeness, your emotions are sold out to make someone else happy yet some bosses undermind your experiences, hardwork and dedication. it doesn't matter how well spoken you are, how many languages you speak, they just choose to be sentimental in decision making as you will watch others whom you know are not even wealthy of promotions get promoted in your very watch, making your efforts, experiences and expertise worthless. it's really a shame that in a field where it's about sociability some bosses forget that fact and focus on sentiments....the unfairness in hospitality field needs to be addressed.

Any business is measured mainly by its #Financial #Performance, but we should agree that the way to reach these Financial #Objectives is mainly by building a strong #Team and #Culture. Today , i had one of my old days team members reaching out to me in order to help her in finding a better opportunity in another hotel as she works in one of the most reputable International hotel chains. I asked her a few questions to understand the main motivation for her move and I wasn't too surprised but at the same time, I feel sad to know that someone becomes a #Generalmanager and lacks true #Leadership traits. First of all, this GM doesn't celebrate #Specialmoments & #Success stories, neither does share monthly updates with the staff members in regards to the property's performance, which means a lack of #Engagement & #Empowerement. This team member has shared that her minimum expectation was to be recognized as a #Mother and for the hotel to celebrate #Mothersday just as an example. The only way that this GM does to celebrate special moments, is by posting #Posters in the back of the house and in the #Staffcafeteria ! which means a big lack of #Personal #Interaction and a #Onewaycommunication which is not appreciated by the staff. Also, not a surprise to know that this property enjoys a high staff #Turnover rate. Sad enough, is that this property is part of one of the biggest hotel chains that keeps sharing posts that they are one of the leading hotel chains when it comes to celebrating #Staffwelfare and winning awards for being the #Bestinclass employers! I simply ask the following questions for any #Hotel chain that has a #Corporateoffice if they do any of the following actions : -Do you question hotel GMs that have a certain high staff #Turnover ratio? and ask for justification. -Do you send any of your seniors as #Mystershoppers to visit your properties and talk randomly to the staff members and ask them about their #Satisfaction? Or all HO visits are mainly to meet the GM and talk about #Numbers? -Are you aware that some of your GMs do through a #Staffparty and other #Incentives just a week or two before the annual or Bi-Annual employee voting on how satisfied they are with their Management? I know even more about some properties that go up to threaten their staff if they vote negatively when it comes to evaluating #Management #Perormance (We all now Senior's bonuses are related to this KPI) -What are corporate office actions to ensure an #Objective and more #Effective way to measure staff #Sasitfaction when it comes to measuring their #Seniors performance? I am only sharing this message with the hope that the #Hospitality industry does truly move from the very #Commercial mentality into the true #Leadership mentality and start looking after their staff and stop complaining about how #Staffretention is becoming more and more difficult! #Hotel #Chains #Staff #Retention #Leadership #Engagement #Turnover #Staffvoice #Hotelgeneralmanager
