The UK Safeguard Quota on imported Turkish merchant bar has been exhausted as of 11 March 2024. All Steels has been very active this quarter on the import of Turkish merchant bar and despite a 1,674t roll over of unused quota from Q4, 2023 all 12,769t of the quota has already been fully utilised during this quarter. This means that no other Turkish merchant bar imports can gain access to the UK for the remainder of March 2024 without incurring a 25% duty charge. All Steels imports for Q2 in merchant bar will be strong so we also envisage that the quota will be exhausted once again during Q2, 2024.
