For the holiday, give the nurses in your life an actual day off by following these safety tips! Independence Day is often a busy time for healthcare workers. For those nurses who are off the clock, let’s help them enjoy a stress-free holiday by staying safe and mindful. Here are some tips: 🔺 Handle Fireworks with Care: Fireworks account for over 10,000 injuries annually. Always follow safety instructions and keep a safe distance. 🔺 Stay Hydrated: Dehydration can lead to serious health issues, especially in the summer heat. Drink plenty of water and remind others to do the same. 🔺 Grill Safely: Nearly 17,000 accidents occur each year due to grilling. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and never leave the grill unattended. 🔺 Use Sun Protection: Prolonged sun exposure can cause severe burns. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and seek shade whenever possible. 🔺 Supervise Swimming: Ensure everyone enjoys the water safely by keeping an eye on swimmers and avoiding alcohol when supervising. By following these tips, you can help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for everyone, including our hardworking RNs who deserve a day of rest.

Question for the Age Care standards? Care Services Emplyees are now required to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, morning, tea afternoon and supper. Kitchen staff do virtually nothing. So we go from cleaning faecal matter and urine straight to serving food. Yes we wear gloves. Yes we wear hair nets in kitchen. Company policy is a fresh clean uniform each shift. Today I asked why we have to serve food with a uniform covered in faecal matter etc. Is this not cross contamination???? I was told it has come from the new Age Care standards and CSEs must do everything as instructed from the commission. Why, because CSEs know residents better than kitchen staff. I find this a gross misuse of duties and am appalled this has come from the powers who be. I currently work in a facility where there is a high turnover of staff, 90 percent of staff are from Nepal, and when visas run out, they leave. Do you want your patents/loved ones served food by nursing staff who's shift revolves around poo, wee, blood, spit, vomit etc. Droplets are naked to the eye but all over us, daily. Every shift. What are your thoughts. I believe it is cross contamination. The first thing tought in nursing is hygiene, viruses are spread by droplets etc.

Whether it's a sharp twinge or a dull ache, the impact of back pain can be profound, affecting both physical and mental well-being. Ever wondered what triggers this discomfort? Your spine, an intricate network of vertebrae, discs, joints, ligaments, and muscles, can all play a role. Contrary to common belief, most back pain doesn't signal severe spinal damage but rather originates from surrounding tissues. Around 80% of cases fall under the umbrella of non-specific low back pain. While it can affect anyone, it's often seen in individuals aged 35 to 55. Factors like heavy lifting, poor posture, and sedentary lifestyles contribute to its prevalence. Back pain can limit your range of motion and flexibility, making it difficult to perform daily activities. This reduced mobility can increase the risk of falls or other accidents. INS LifeGuard’s 24/7 personal alarm systems are equipped with advanced features that automatically notify designated carers, family members, or nurses at our emergency response centre in the event of an incident. This ensures that appropriate assistance is promptly dispatched, even if the individual is unable to reach out. We also offer additional safety measures such as GPS tracking and fall detection, providing an added layer of protection and reassurance for both the individual and their loved ones. With INS LifeGuard personal alarms by your side, you can confidently navigate daily activities knowing that you have reliable support at your fingertips, ensuring safety, security, and peace of mind every step of the way.
