Amazing to see the impact of human connection measured in the report below! Higher spans of control lead to higher turnover, but regular, meaningful manager interactions can decrease by up to 7%.
Last year we announced a research-driven partnership with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership to leverage the unique data from Laudio Insights to inform the future of work in nursing. Today we released our first joint report: “Quantifying the Impact of Nurse Managers.” Scroll through key findings below and access the report for first-of-its kind data on the measurable impact nurse leaders make on health system operational and financial outcomes. 📢Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) play an integral role in your team. How can you engage with your CNAs to gain meaningful feedback that can be used to improve your facility? 💡It’s all in the way you communicate! Top🔟questions to ask CNAs instead of “How is your day?”: 1️⃣ Do you have the supplies and equipment that you need to do your job? 2️⃣ Have you noticed any changes in your residents’ care today? 3️⃣ What is the top thing that we can improve upon to make your job easier? 4️⃣ Are your residents’ food trays hot and ready for them to eat or do you often have to reheat the food? 5️⃣ Is the Hoyer lift charged and ready for use when you need it? 6️⃣ Do you feel comfortable asking your coworkers for assistance when needed? 7️⃣ Do you feel comfortable talking to your manager about concerns and issues? 8️⃣ Can you complete all your assigned patient care tasks during your shift? 9️⃣ Are you able to go home at the end of your shift or do you often have to work late? 1️⃣ 0️⃣ Do you feel that you are a important member of the care team? ✔ Make sure to listen to the valuable responses that you receive. ✔ Action plan to address identified barriers. Improving the work environment of your CNAs can directly impact your resident and facility outcomes. #Mitig8RiskReveal #Mitig8RiskManagement #HealthcareCompliance #LegalNurseConsultant Hindy Katz , Lisa Fedorka Brocky

#MakePositiveNoise honestly… this is a retention strategy that will work as long as you make is accessible to bedside staff. Grand rounds are usually hard to make, difficult to get people to come to and challenging to get staff to engage. Utilizing digital technology is an easy way to do this. Step 1: Have the speaker send a teaser video (I usually do a long form, captioned video of me walking the dog or doing something random, saying hi! I am Mel… I do this. And I’m looking forward to seeing y’all soon! ) then they email that to the staff prior to my arrival with a registration link. Step 2: the day of the grand rounds i am on tiktok. Twitter, insta. Engaging with folks. Then they film me. I let them! Why? Well I usually say something different each time, also, I love to have them send the recording out to staff who couldn’t make it. Step 3: follow up survey. That survey can include questions about what would make people more engaged and allow for feedback in a narrative. To learn how to use speakers to retain staff like this incredible organization is doing, send me a message. Happy to help you strategize! #positive #healthcare #innovation #newgradnurses #retention
