End-of-Year Challenges and Our Response The end of the school year always brings its own set of challenges, from final exams to project deadlines. It's a busy and sometimes stressful period. However, it's also a time when our courage and strength shine the brightest. By facing these challenges head-on, we demonstrate our commitment to excellence and growth. Award Winning Human Resources | Mentor 老师 | Career Counsellor | Certified Lego® Serious Play® Facilitator
"How I know what i don't know?" Over my course of mentoring a few of my working adults as well as growing up in my journey as a #humanresource professional, the above question came up a few times. Each time, i used the specific case environment to source for the best answer to this question from the mentee's prospective. So how to find out about something you don't know? STEP ONE > Have diverse people around you with lots of interests that don't match yours. > Listen to what other people are talking about and saying about new things. > Ask great questions of others. > Take every opportunity you can to observe your situation from new perspectives. > Know who you can count on to challenge your thinking. > Surround yourself with people who will talk to you honestly, even when that's difficult. > Let others share what they know that you don't know as anonymously or as visibly as they would like. > Always keep the knowledge that you don't know everything you need to know front and center in your mind. > If you don't find out at least one new thing you didn't know that you didn't know daily, you aren't trying hard enough . . . so try harder! STEP TWO Learning what you don't know... > Inventory Sub-Optimal Situations - The best way to uncover knowledge gaps is to closely examine your current work and identify areas where you are not succeeding as much as you wish you were. > Take an Assessment - Many written and online surveys are available to help you identify both your strengths and weaknesses. > Ask Colleagues Anonymously - Solicit 360 degree feedback on your performance > Work with a Coach - You can often learn a lot by talking with an objective third-party who is not personally invested in your work. Career coaches are wonderful at sizing up your situation and recommending growth opportunities.
