Life is often compared to a train journey, and it's true - sometimes the train you've been waiting for might not stop at the destination you had in mind. It can be disheartening and frustrating, but it's important to remember that life is full of unexpected twists and turns. The train may veer off its expected path, but that doesn't mean you're stuck or lost. Just like in real life, when one opportunity doesn't work out, it doesn't mean the end of the line. There are always more trains coming - new opportunities, new experiences, and new adventures waiting to be explored. So, instead of feeling discouraged by a missed connection, stay open-minded, adaptable, and ready to embrace the unexpected. Be willing to adjust your plans and expectations, and trust that the right train will arrive at the perfect time. Keep moving forward, stay patient, and believe that the journey is just as important as the destination. Grahame, The Wind in the Willows] 💥 The word “#leadership” comes from the Old English word lithan (one of the rare English words that has an English origin), which literally means, “to go”; and also means “to guide” if you have researched Old Dutch. ⚓ This year's leaderSHIP & friendSHIP #Sailing #Bootcamp in #Sicily was really unique. The island itself, magic and lots of new perspectives. When it comes to "going" and "guiding" as the word leadeship lietrally means, it also means that you have to have the RIGHT people on the board. Why not recruit for attitude, and train skills afterwards? It is a strategic priority. We know the price we will pay for merely filling a position of a crew member (as in organizations). Food for thought: ❌ What we know changes, who we are does not! The fatal recruiting mistake is to find someone with right skills but with the wrong mindset. Core personality traits do not change. ❌ We cannot find what we are not looking for! If we are not targeting the traits most important to the position of crew member, then we will not find them (like continous learning, sense of humor, teamwork, managing stress, attention to detail, motivation). ❌ We cannot recruit the right people if they do not apply! Blood is thicker than water. If people are who matters, people related to our stars may have similar values and characteristics. 💦 We are planning new sailing bootcamps that concentrate on leaderSHIP and friendSHIP. Mixing people from different backgrounds, cognitive styles and professional experiences is always a good way to gain some new perspectives on life. Today was a whirlwind—a day marked by constant movement and unexpected challenges. As I looked out of the plane window, the world below seemed both vast and full of possibilities. Travelling isn't just about moving from one place to another: it's a journey of growth, exploration, and learning. Despite the chaos of a hectic day, made even more difficult by the Uber and Ola strike, I was reminded of the importance of adaptability. In our careers and lives, we face daily challenges that test our resilience and push us to keep learning. Along the way, we also learn hard truths—like the importance of discernment. Not every character we encounter is trustworthy and not every relationship is built to last. But each experience teaches us something valuable. Life is a continuous journey and every setback is just a part of the story that helps us grow.
