Milaha Introduces New MTX 2 Maritime Service Linking Türkiye, Spain, and the Canary Islands Shipping Arabia, December 31, 2024 — Milaha Container Shipping Division is set to launch its new weekly maritime service, MTX 2 – Milaha Türkiye Express 2 Spain Loop, beginning January 2, 2025. This new route aims to enhance trade connectivity between Türkiye, Spain, and the Canary Islands, promising to boost efficiency and sustainability in the region. The MTX 2 service will connect key ports such as Ambarli, Belde Port, Alicante, Barcelona, Tenerife, Las Palmas, and Arrecife, ensuring a rapid transit time of just four days between Türkiye and Spain. This makes it one of the fastest maritime links available in the Mediterranean. The service will debut with the vessel MV Nanto, utilizing slot arrangements to maximize operational efficiency. A notable feature of this service is its commitment to environmental sustainability, boasting a carbon footprint that is seven times lower than that of traditional truck transportation. This is part of Milaha’s broader strategy to enhance maritime transport sustainability and align with global carbon reduction goals. The MTX 2 will utilize three vessels, each offering a capacity ranging from 803 to 749 TEUs, and equipped with 180 to 100 reefer plugs. This fleet configuration will support weekly sailings, adding a reliable scheduling option for shippers and enhancing supply chain stability. Additionally, this new service will reconnect with Milaha’s existing Egypt Loop (MTX), further strengthening the trade corridors between Türkiye, Spain, the Canary Islands, and Egypt. This integration will provide cargo owners and logistics providers with increased flexibility and streamlined operations, enhancing overall trade efficiency across Southern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. Milaha's launch of the MTX 2 service underscores its commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable, and competitive maritime solutions. With optimized transit times, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced cargo handling capabilities, the new service is poised to be a pivotal element in promoting regional trade growth and building resilient supply chains. For more information on specific sailing schedules and further inquiries, stakeholders are encouraged to contact Milaha’s representatives in Türkiye, Spain, and Dubai, or visit their official website at www.milaha.com.
