What trips up most businesses buying their first WMS? ASSUMPTIONS ASSUMPTIONS ASSUMPTIONS We all love to think we know our businesses inside and out. Yet when processes are entirely human driven, the likelihood that each person does something a bit differently from the next is VERY HIGH. For every additional person or team you introduce... this snowballs. That means there's a whole lot more variation in your operation than it feels like there should be and it also means steps are probably being missed or people have added steps that are important yet not well communicated. And when we don't come to the table acknowledging we're probably not all on the same page... WE PUT THE BUSINESS AT RISK. I've been helping businesses design Warehouse Management System solutions for over 20 years and this is a pattern I've rarely NOT seen. (read: *everyone* suffers from this) Yet the focus is always on the technology as this savior of sorts when most of the hard work is getting everyone on the same page and agreeing to how they currently interact and impact one another. And then define how they SHOULD interact to unlock profitable growth. It boils down to a business process + master data maturity project when you filter out the software purchase and integration aspects.
