Latest update from the Health and Safety Inspectorate The Health and Safety Inspectorate (HSI) has identified that occupational health surveillance is not being conducted when legally required. This issue cuts across several sectors including food production, stonemasonry, construction, and carpentry. Legal requirements There is a belief that health surveillance is not a legal requirement in Jersey. This is incorrect. Health surveillance is a reasonably practicable measure employers are required to take. It should form part of your overall system of occupational health management as required by Article 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law, 1989. Are your top management commitments visible to the workforce or just for the records? 3.Has optimization become a barrier to workplace management of health and safety while at work? 4. Is continuous improvement an avenue to complacency as well as a barrier for proactive safety management? 5. Are the welfare of National as regards safe system of work, HMO plans and other benefits a safety critical part of the mental health management within your organization?
