A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a wireless distribution method for two or more devices. WLANs use high-frequency radio waves and often include an access point to the Internet. WLANs allow users to move around the coverage area, often a home or small office, while maintaining a network connection Not every network uses wireless, and not every security engineer needs to know how to secure wireless access points to their network. But if you're just getting started on a network that does need secure wireless, Fortinet's controller can maintain network security and this course can show you exactly how. Keith Barker of CBT Nuggets discusses some of the technologies used in wireless LANs (WLANs). Why is having a great small business broadband offering (as in, more than JUST internet) important for any community based BSP? Outside of meeting your customers needs, it's critical from a STRATEGIC perspective. We know that the playbook for a competitor to enter a new market is to run a fiber down main street, pick up as many high value business customers as they can, and then start expanding their footprint into residential from there. Want to defend from competition? Build a differentiated, value packed business offering that gives your business customers no reason to look elsewhere. "I can give you that same gig for $30 less per month." Cool, but what about network security? Content controls? Guest network with branded landing page? LTE backup? All with local, white glove install and support? Now we're building a shield around our market. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

A mesh network is a decentralized wireless network where devices are directly connected to each other without the need for a central device like a router. In this network, each device acts as a bridge to transmit data to other devices, which increases the range of communication. If one point fails, data can be routed through other points, making the network more stable. It is highly flexible, allowing devices to be added or removed without affecting the network's performance. It also offers wide coverage and additional security by encrypting data at the device level.
