Circus Maximus in Rome, Italy is a historic Roman stadium used for chariot racing and other entertainment. It was the earliest and biggest stadium in ancient Rome and the later Roman Empire, located in the valley between the Aventine and Palatine hills. It could hold more than 150,000 spectators and was 621 meters long and 118 meters wide. When it was completed, it served as the template for circuses all around the Roman Empire. It is currently a public park. Circus Maximus served as the main location for ludi, or public sports related to religious festivals, in the city. For the good of the Roman people and Gods, ludi were supported by powerful Romans or the Roman government. This is such an important article about the state of affairs for Twin Cities' arts and cultural organizations. Making sure it doesn't get overlooked as we digest our turkey and play boardgames with family this holiday weekend. https://lnkd.in/gw-Jt-gU

70 years ago, on 7 May 1954, the end of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in Indochina led the French government to cancel the first tour to Paris by any Soviet ballet troupe since WW2. In this article below published in 2019, I examine the political considerations of the early Cold War period that prematurely terminated the French-Soviet efforts to conduct dance diplomacy. https://lnkd.in/eXcFXk4f #dancediplomacy #coldwar #ussr #coldwarstudies #balletdiplomacy

Sun Tzu: "All warfare is based on deception" Observed the variation of movements in this choreography and how one side attracts your attention while the opposite side and the center formations are making different maneuvering. Background music plays a role in aircraft formation and maneuvers in air forces exercises like Red Flag, etc. I heard from the grapevine that a regional air force is discussing use of this music/song "Karera" ("race" as in racing cars or hectic life) as their background music while contemplating maneuvers before the actual execution. Watch the choreography and imagine fighter aircraft making these maneuvers and synchronization. Except fighter aircraft move in wide, open spaces.

Ever noticed how anticipation for a grand event sometimes feels like preparing to tame dragons in a buzzing beehive? That's the saga unfolding above the District, with helicopters slicing the sky for next month's inauguration. It's the aerial symphony no one ordered, yet here we are, serenaded by whirring blades—because routine is just too commonplace. Imagine it: majestic metal mosquitoes, rehearsing their aerial ballet. One can't help but ponder if they're practicing for the ultimate Inauguration Day air show or ensuring those attending can enjoy a dose of vertigo from above. After all, what's democracy without a side of adrenaline? - Why helicopters, you ask? Because when it comes to rehearsing for global attention, landing gears make more of an impression than red carpets. - They’re combing the skies like enthusiastic bees over a field, looking for blip-y, bip-y things nobody quite wants amidst the pomp of inauguration day festivities. There's a certain poetry in preparedness here, where spectacle and skepticism tango awkwardly on the rooftops of the nation’s capital. An air show—ahem, reconnaissance operation—for the crowd not present, just waiting to applause through the windows of suburban homes. One wonders, is this the drone of progress or a distraction from what's truly at stake in our bustling hive of governance? As these helicopters buzz through the pastel sky, there’s a bittersweet acknowledgment of readiness at any cost—a theater of pragmatic precautions taken too staunchly serious, yet so bewilderingly mesmerizing. • Could it signal a future where the sky sings an uneasy song each inauguration Eve to assure safety? • Or is it a memo reminding us of the price of vigilance in an ever-watchful landscape? However you coin it, there's something unfathomably bold about turning the routine inspection into a mid-air production. Let's hope those up above recite the lines precisely. For the bustling beneath, it's another scene in democracy's ongoing drone opera. #InaugurationPreparations #HelicopterBuzz #SecurityTheater #ModernGovernance #AirborneSpectacle #FlyHighStayGrounded #SkySurveillance #FutureOfSecurity https://lnkd.in/emdgfXDV

The provision of Close Protection can take you far and wide. It can also provide unique experiences that possibly, you may not have entertained for no other reason than not necessarily being your personal choice to do so. These include Operas and Ballets. I have watched Swan Lake by the Bolshoi Ballet no less than 8 times and I have to say, I enjoyed it every single time. The delivery of CP within such environments where the use of phones is simply not permitted (including the camera (!) can cause an issue in terms of communicating with team members outside and vice-versa not to mention the detriment of wearing an ear pierce in full view of unknowns in the immediate vicinity. Pre-arranged methods of comms such as RF transmitted and receives affording the ability to rapid click at much distance and through thick stone auditorium walls is one work-around that is effective and immediate.
