As the saying goes “Alls Well That Ends Well”, it took our collective efforts this year to navigate and “End” an extremely challenging year at FlySoulbirds charter and management department on a high note! 2023 began with aircraft insurance market premiums rocketing sky high and substantially tightening pilot requirements for our Part 91 owner (most of whom are pilots) flights. Add to this, a tougher maintenance landscape short of labor/parts and a pilot shortage as well. As some of our owners listed their planes for sale, pilots dedicated to them naturally started exploring the airlines and larger 135 operator’s in search of higher wages and stability. This ripple created a cycle of fear within our pilot roster and threatened our business substantially. We did lose some good pilots this year to the airlines but were able to onboard the next generation from our sister company Oklahoma Aviation LLC. Insurance challenges subsided once we replaced our previous broker and found Josh Jabour with AssuredPartners. Maintenance would have been a lot more challenging without AvionAero, business partner Justin Covalt and our Director of Maintenance, Nic Hawker. I want to take this moment and opportunity to thank our team, plane owners and vendors for their continued support. None of this would have been accomplished without you. At the end, our fleet grew, planes listed for sale found new owners within our echo system, and we added more pilots.
