Sometimes not all AI appear to be that intelligent. Quote "In May of this year, Google teased a new Theft Detection Lock tool for Android phones. Expected to debut with Android 15, the feature would sense a device's motion -- such as someone snatching a phone and then running, biking, or driving away -- and immediately lock the screen, Google said." So how is this different than something practically everyone does at some point during the week: oops need to grab my phone and jump back into the car/literally gotta run. How about applying AI with a dash more help: We are going to force you to unlock your phone anytime and all the time.

Knowing Apple, these features, although nothing groundbreaking, should just work smoothly right out of the box. What is a big deal is Apple is potentially opening up massive locally run AI model uses, especially LLMs. Products released in last few months like the AI Pin or Rabbit are in fragile market condition right now, neither of which has definitive competitive advantages compared to a smooth LLM augmented Siri locally run on your iPhone or even Apple Watch (believe or not your Apple Watch has the juice to run a light weight LLM, or more fitting term SLM). Every device on the Apple product menu now has neural engine built in soc, and more efficient RAM usage and management for LLM inferences has been explored, see this paper: https://lnkd.in/eipZC3KM ChatGPT is powerful for its raw capabilities; LLMs on your daily devices will be powerful in a different way, mainly for its customizability, domain capability, efficiency, data security and ease of use.

Microsoft is exploring a novel authentication method using #earbuds, as per a recent report. The technology, patented by #Microsoft, involves emitting ultrasonic sound from the earbuds to interact with the unique internal structure of the user's ear. This method aims to authenticate the user by capturing and analyzing the echoes of the sound waves, which are distinct to each individual. The #earbuds would facilitate authentication for nearby devices that require login credentials, ensuring security by only verifying identity when in the user's ear. While the technology remains in the patent stage, its potential could simplify device login processes significantly if developed further by Microsoft.
