Innovative and bold new product projects usually have high uncertainties, yet most firms do not handle #risk and #uncertainty adequately in their financial evaluations, such as in #NPV calculations. In this IEEE Engineering Management Review article, by Dr. Robert G. Cooper, McMaster University, the expected commercial value (ECV), an options pricing approach that is relatively simple to use, is outlined, complete with a true case example. The #ECV is a stagewise model and thus recognizes that spending decisions for larger new-product projects are incremental, one stage at a time; this mitigates risk and so increases the economic value of the project, a fact ignored in most financial calculations. The ECV also builds in probabilities of technical and commercial success. https://lnkd.in/ecCpP9Nh #valuation #newproductdevelopment #pricing #EngineeringManagementReview IEEE IEEE TEMS: Technology and Engineering Management Society

🤲🫶🤟🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝👇👇💪🫵 Warning ‼️ possible green partnership ahead!!! I’d like to make a (possible) public introduction between Trystan Watson Professor at Swansea University and Amy Prieto at Colorado State University. Do you two know each other? You should!! Professor Watson studies (for one thing) the ease of #manufacturing of #perovskite solar panels with carbon electrodes. As seen on the US MAP video — here https://lnkd.in/e3r_CmDN — he mentions how he studied the more democratic production of printable perovskite with silk screen textile printers, I think in Mexico. Professor Prieto is lead of Prieto Battery and uses #greenchemistry at room temperature to make a non toxic-ish 3-d battery. She and her team already has partnerships and has validated her technology. It’s made with #electroplating. But what if somehow you two teamed up? I don’t know the legalities of things but couldn’t Prieto batteries be an open source project and have manufacturing capabilities? One model for this in my limited knowledge base is Cards Agsinst Humanity game. #gaming What if Swansea #pv were to be backed by Prieto batteries and could be made anywhere in the world 🌍?? What if it was all open, democratic technology, made simply and locally and connected through online systems like the Precious Plastic One Army groups?
