💡 What if we told you there is a simple way small businesses can grow their revenue by 30%? 🌟 In 2020, Shortlist Professionals and WomenWork, through funding from UK-Kenya Tech Hub and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Asia Pacific, ran a program called the "Kenya Small Business Leaders Program". KBSL was designed to empower female-owned enterprises in Kenya through a 6-month virtual mentorship, connecting them with subject matter experts from marketing, finance, growth and many other types of backgrounds to provide them tailed support to enable their growth. The results? ✅ 91% of participating companies would recommend the program. ✅ 82% rated the expert support as ‘very positive’ or ‘positive’. ✅ 73% saw increased revenue growth, averaging over 27%. ✅ 46% created new jobs, hiring an average of nine new employees. ✅ 20% of companies continued to engage with their matched expert on a regular basis. Reflecting on KSBL, we are more committed than ever to fostering innovation, driving growth, and creating opportunities for female entrepreneurs through expert matching support. Thank you to our partners, experts, and participants for being part of this incredible journey. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for women-led enterprises in Africa. 🌍💼 Sheena Raikundalia, Isis Nyong'o Madison, Simon Desjardins, Paul Breloff #KenyaSmallBusinessLeaders #EmpoweringWomen #Entrepreneurship #Mentorship #BusinessGrowth #Shortlist #UKKenyaTechHub #FCDO #Innovation #Africa

Leading Google's Africa Comms Team, Driving Visibility & Reputation

In 2020, I was shortlisted by Shortlist Professionals as one of 29 experts to mentor 15 small businesses in Kenya. Out of the applicants, Angela W., the founder of SisterSpeaks Global & Heels4Pads Foundation chose to work with me. We clicked right away. From the very beginning, we both knew what we wanted to get out of this experience which was a comms strategy for her business but our partnership went way beyond that. This experience got me thinking: what makes a mentor-mentee relationship truly successful? Shortlist Professionals laid a solid foundation with their selection process which really made my experience with Angela stand out. Read on and find out what made our experience truly positive.
