Join Shout Clinical Director Sarah Kendrick and two of our Shout Volunteers on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, Tuesday 10 September at 12pm to learn how you can support someone who is struggling with suicidal thoughts. The theme of World Suicide Prevention Day this year is ‘Changing the narrative around suicide’, so we’re going to set about changing the part of the old narrative that says suicide shouldn’t be talked about. Because talking about suicide is how we help prevent it. Sign up: https://lnkd.in/etC9afNX

Excited to share my research on Hopelessness, Suicide Risk, and Suicide-Focused Care! This poster summarizes my recent literature review on the role of hopelessness in suicide risk and prevention. Key findings include: - Hopelessness as a major risk factor for suicide - The lack of a universal method for measuring hopelessness - The need for further research on addressing hopelessness in suicide prevention programs I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my advisor, Marjan G. Holloway, Ph.D., for her invaluable guidance. #suicideprevention #mentalhealth #hopelessness

In the year 2003, with the combined efforts of World Health Organization and International Association for Suicide Prevention, 10th September was established as World Suicide Prevention Day. The triennial theme from 2024-2026 is "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" with the call to action " Start the Conversation". The idea behind this is to raise awareness about the importance of addressing stigma associated with suicide and encouraging conversations to prevent suicides. #suicideprevention #letsstartaconversation
